Hey, I'm pretty sure this has been talk about b4 on the old board but not completely sure. I apologize if it has.

Okay, I bought some FOTE (fruit of the earth) 100% Aloe Vera Gel and I was wondering if anyone has any insight on what I can use this for or what I can mix it with? I actually would like to "cook something up" but I just don't know what I can use it for.

Please reply. Thanks.

Hey KinkyCoils,

I made a pomade with half AVG and half shea butter. It turned out pretty nice. If you like scents add some essential oil or fragrance oil to it.

You can also mix it with some conditioner and make a nice leave in conditioner with it.

Hey NGC! I was wondering :?: Do you use your concotion for twists or for whatever? I can I use this just on my mini fro? And what is the consistency? Is it thick or creamy?

This is what the 50/50 pomade looked like. I think it was a little watery at the bottom of the jar.

When it cooled it was creamy but solid, very similar the CD MHH.

Thanks a lot, NGC! I made some a little earlier today and it pretty much looks like yours (mine is a little lighter). It also has a creamy consistency.

On longhairlovers.com, one woman mixed aloe vera gel with coconut oil and used it as a leave in for her hair. You could also try mixing it with a little vegetable glycerine.

I did almost the same thing except I added half avg, 1/4 shea butter and 1/4 coco butter along with some essential oils (peppermint and rosemary, tea tree) Just ran out but I'll probably make some more this weekend. Still I want to try something else maybe with a little thicker consistency to hold my twists.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Has anyone used pure aloe gel straight from the plant?

kinkycoils

i have a hair/body butter that i make, i have made many variations, but the one that seams to work for me is,

butters: shea, cocoa
oils: coconut, olive
essential oils: lavender, rosemary, sweet orange, nutmeg

and the other day i added aloe vera gel, an even better blend, and my hair & body smell good enough to eat

Well, its back to the lab again. I have a whole bottle of Aloe Vera gel from back in the beginning of my natural journey. When I was a true product junky. I think my PJ days are coming back.

Thanks for the idea!
