I am subscribed to a Yahoo group called Revolutionary Minds and I often recieve updates on current events that may affect people of color as a whole. Today I recieved an email talking about former Reagan administration Secretary of Education, Bill Bennett. According to the e-mail, he was being interviewed on some radio station in Salem... non-issue. The shocker is what he said. The link below is a 2 minute sound bite of Mr. Bennett discussing how to lower crime rates...

I was skeptical at first because I could NOT believe a political figure (no matter how long ago they were a political figure) would make such a... stupid comment... but when I heard it... I was even more shocked. Can we do anything about this?....

I heard the clip, it sounds like a radio show for bigoted idiots...wow, say that fast five times "bigoted idiots". It's hard to do....

Back on topic...I'd hate to make a big fuss over the statement and give this a**hole more publicity than he'll ever earn on his own. He sucks, but there are plenty like him - and what else would you expect from a Reaganite. By the way, I don't buy one word Chief Justice Robert's pitiful explanation for all the crap he spewed back then. If you're going to be a bigot, be honest about it.

I was extremely upset when I heard it. I found myself feeling as though this was the inner thoughts of everyone white person and my old militant self began to rise up in me(its always the light skinned one that are militant :lol: ).I would LOVE for something to be done or said. Prez Bush said, "...the statement was unappropiate." Is unappropiate even a word? What thats it?!

while in no way do i agre with what he said, nor do i understand the need for it to be said, he actually said that the act would be "'impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible"...

This Bill Bennett guy is just another racist white man whos comments reflect his ignorance. :angry: We as a people cannot allow people like him to continue to identify who we are. They( white amerika) can say and believe whatever they want. It will only effect us if we buy into it and begin to manifest their ideology. We have to start taking an Afrocentric approach and stop adopting the Eurocentric one.
