o-kay, i just made the name up. actually, i made it all up. sorta random, but i thought i'd share.
i bought some cocoa butter from FNWL a while ago, thinking i could use it in my hair. however, when i got it, i realized it was entirely too hard to use by itself. i used it once in a concoction that ended up smelling foul. well, not foul, but just not appealing. after that, it sat in my drawer collecting dust. now, my coconut oil got more use, but if my room was too cold, it also got hard and was difficult to get out of the bottle.
well, i decided to mix the two in the flat tub the cocoa butter came in that way i would soften up the cocoa butter and wouldn't have to struggle with the bottle the coconut oil came in. i had about 1.5 parts coconut oil to 1 part cocoa butter. i melted them both, mixed, and refrigerated for like 20-30 minutes. at room temperature, it is a creamy buttery consistency and it melts in your hand, like coconut oil.
now, it's not the normal consistency of product i put in my hair, too heavy, so i decided to use it as a body butter. i rub it on everywhere after i get out of the shower. i love it. my skin is incredibly soft, softer than i ever remember my skin being. IMO, it's definitely better than any of the body butters, lotions, and potions you would buy in a store.
enjoy.

FNWL = From Nature With Love

i got the cocoa butter deodorized (4 oz.) @ $4.00. it smells like the coconut oil mostly. i wonder what it would smell like with the food grade cocoa butter.
i hope you like as much as i do.

Thanks for the great link! :)
My question is how were you able to melt the solidified cocca butter and coconut oil?
Thanks again for the recipe :)

oh, yeah! i ran the coconut oil bottle under hot water. it melts quickly. i just slapped the cocoa butter in the microwave for a minute or so. i didn't know what else to do with it. it's really hard.

The food grade cocoa butter smells delicious and is a true cocoa butter so that's the smell you'd have. It is just as hard as the deodorized version so you would need to melt it the same way, or do the double broiler method.

I can't wait to give this a try! I love cocca butter smell so I think I'll try the foodgrade one first as CrazyCurl indicated!!
Many thanks and I like your pictures over at your personal website! I didn't know there were goodlucking guys in Toronto. I just might have to pay a visit there some day especially when it is not so COLD :)

Those are my two fav oils/butter but I will stick with using them separately.

i'm all late, but no prob! :D
update: i read on a yahoo group that you shouldn't heat cocoa butter and shea butter up higher than 150 degree F or they will lose some of their beneficial properties, as well as taking on a grainy texture. it also said that the microwave unevenly heats with hot spots so it's not adviced. i will be making a new batch whenever i get my order from FNWL. i'll try melting the cocoa butter [in a container] in hot water and see how that works.
i also bought some shea butter and watermelon seed oil. i'll probably play with them in my Cocolicious Body Butter ;). i'll let you all know all my results.

"i'll try melting the cocoa butter [in a container] in hot water and see how that works. "
That's the double broiler method and it keeps the consistency of the butter, doesn't turn grainy at all, this is how I make all my butters! I tried the cocoa butter with jojoba oil, added a touch of vanilla essentail oil, LOVE it!!!!
ETA: To do this on the stove, you'll need a glass bowl. If you use medium heat, it will work fine but I use low heat while I mix up whatever oil I plan to use.
Just thought I'd add my Body butter recipe, it was originally for my hair but this stuff was way to thick for my hair so I used it on my skin instead and i'm lovin it! :D
Ingredients as follows:
Un- refined shea butter
Pure coconut oil
vit e-min oil
jojoba oil
sweet almond oil
Ylang Ylang EO
Lemon EO
Lavendar EO
I don't do measuring so just added and kept on adding  !
The result after it settled was a thick, very sweet smelling butter that absorbs very easily into the skin.
You have to try it to beleive it.
Enjoy!!
