I can never keep it I use it daily but I usually purchase 3 jars and it last for 3 mo (husband and daughter uses it too) so I know atleast three months

I store mine in the back on the cabinet away from direct light in their original jars. The longest I've had mine is 6mos. I first started using it in 1998 when I first started this journey. I used to refrigerate it but found that when I removed it for a period of time to melt or use for a product the consistency changed. The other thing was that over time a portion of it got mold from moisture. Since I have stopped refrigerating it I haven't had that problem.

I used to only by a 1lb of ultra-refined shea butter @ 6.50per lb at a time but the last time I purchased was earlier this month and I got 2lb of unrefined shea butter @7.40 per lb. A pound usually lasted me about a year. You just have to shop around for what you like.

My BF bought a whopping 3 pounds of the stuff a year ago! He uses is for his eczema & I use it for my hair. We are down to the last of it, but the package that it can in said store in a cool, dry place and it will last for 12-14 months.

I buy my shea butter in bulk from the local african market, usually in about a 1-2 lb size. I have kept shea butter for well over a year with no problem.

Finally free of the tyranny of store bought
