Hey ladies! I'm transitioning and did my first protective style two nights ago (two strand twist roller set out). It came out really nice but by the end of the day my curls looked more like a wiry mess. I realized halfway through sitting under the dry that I forgot to use a holding agent/setting lotion. After all that work I wasn't able to start over again so I just prayed it come out nice. Well it did but only lasted about 8 hours lol. Can anyone recommend a good holding agent that will define, hold and not frizz out the curls of my partially natural mostly relaxed hair? I have about 3 inches of new growth.

Thanks!

Hopefully a similar thread isn't already floating around out there...

I have a few questions for current & recovering PJ's.
I was wondering aprox how much money everyone is spending on products on a monthly basis? I've had to limit myself to one purchase per month. For example, I'll hit up Oyin's site and purchase a few items and that's all I can buy for the month. On average I shell out maybe 20 bucks a month for my hair if I shop locally. If I order online it can run me about 30-35 bucks including shipping.

The next question is mainly for recovering pjs. Did you ever find your staples? I mean something that u absolutely can not live without or are you just settling because you never found (or made) your 'miracle' product?

Finally, what do you do with the stuff that doesn't work? Have you every taken anything back to the store? Throw it away? Give it away? Use it anyway? Just wondering.

And one last thing- tell me why I did an image search on Google for Qhemet Biologics and Empress Ri's pic pops up!!! Hers is the 3rd picture, a true PJ indeed!!!!:p

I recently brought castor oil. I used it mixed with honey to twist my hair then I applied some drops to my scalp. I'm reading in various places that after pre pooing with castor oil it should be washed out.

Is it okay if i leave it on my scalp and apply it numerous times before my next wash?

Have any of you left it in until you washed again?

Hw do you apply it + do you leave it in?

Also....many people say that castor oil is thick, but to me, even though it is a little sticky its not thick. What do you ladies/gents think about its consistency?

Thanx in advance for any input =]

How can you tell what is authentic shea butter and black soap.

Black soap: Nubian Heritage's (found this at Whole Foods) black soap looks just like a black bar of soap. The sample I got from Hosia online sorta like a granola bar.

Shea Butter: I recently purchased shea butter from www.oilsbynature.com. It is very gritty (off white color) and , so I have o melt it. The health food store where I shop sells a shea butter with the label Afrikan Republic that is bright yellow. The store also carries another that is a paler yellow.
I have also come across Palmers shea butterthat is snow white.

Eco-styler gel + S-curl + Knot today = super soft/defined hair

Eco-styler gel defines the hair

Knot today as a leave -in/conditioner keeps it soft

S-Curl adds softness and makes my curls flexible/ not stiff

Once everything is in I just roll my hands over my hair (I have a TWA) in a circular motion for as long as can to clump the hair. I keep a water bottle close by in case I want it a little more damp.

Mayo/Egg/Baby Food Banana's works GREAT as a Rinse out Deep Conditioner too.

To wrap it all up I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a sprqay can for shine :)

Try it ladies its sure to work and I have naturally dry, hard undefined hair

What is your Holy Grail product combinations?
