I need to separate my roots soon. It's been 4 -5 weeks since I last touched 'em. Probably shouldn't wait more than 8 - 10 weeks...

im mostly a freeformer (im sure you all know that by now) but i do plan on exploring this retwisting thing on march 6th (day b4 my birthday ;D) sorry i havent had any pix up as of late, because my parents cut off my phone because of a mistake i made which cost them an extra 50 bucks on their phone bill so i cant even make phone calls or send and type of text messages. yep :/. im a fish out of water right now.

I usually separae after every wash (2 days) but I've been letting some of them marry. Think I may stop separating all together.

browncoco, if you can't separate on your own & they are really married, maybe have your loctician perform surgery. Just refrain from cutting them apart if you don't know *exactly* what you're doing. Don't wanna damage those lovely locs.

You're asking if the salon re-twist will be any different than DIY? Only one way to find out.

hehe, from what I understand, service providers love to charge extra.
maybe don't use the word "surgery", or "problem area"... just tell her you need a handful of locs popped and to be gentle

My loctician does surgery on mine and it does not cost extra. My locks just don't pop, the hairs just stretch and that is painful.

I'm still semi-freeforming. I love my big hair, but end up with so many loose hairs that I have to get my locks maintained about every 3-4 months

This is me to a T. I had my locs washed and latched in November but nothing since then. I'm starting to get the straggly straight ends hanging out though and that mess is not cute. I'll probably go have them groomed toward the end of next month.

I love freeforming ALL the time. No maintenance here. Makes me look different than everybody els. Always having two inches of newgrowth. I love it.

I have been doing the water only washing every other day. I love this. No products just water. I have been using oil, but I want to only use oil on the days I don't rinse. So that will be every other day. Glad not to be using oil everyday anymore. After a while I want to stop using oil completely. Then just water. I really think this is what my scalp has been asking for. It feels good not to have to think about product anymore. Just let my hair and scalp be free.
