Here's my best educated guess at a how-to:
- Begin braiding a large section of hair.
- Rather than braid all the way down, fluff out the remaining loose hair.
- Repeat all over the head.
I'm not sure why the hair forms those spheres. I could see putting a small band right at the ends and then pushing those banded ends up into the sphere, if that makes sense. Simply molding them into spheres, possibly with a sticky product, might work as well.
Obviously this woman had a pretty decent amount of length and thickness. Shorter and/or thinner hair would need more sections, I think.

I so wish I could see the back. I need to start learning how to do these tuck styles - the bun gets kind of tired when it's the only up-do I can figure out
