Just subscribed to some new freeformers on youtube to help with encouragement on this journey. Im *thinking* of doing some of my own videos just because there has been a scarcity of freeforming women on youtube (especially those that freeform from the beginning), but there have been some more women coming out of the woodwork to freeform, so I'll see.
First set of locks: Sept. 14, 1999 - April 22, 2011

Wow! ^^^ I was just thinking about doing a "freeform" challenge (for 7 months starting January 2013)
Ten days later, and my PC Curls still look good!
I look so good today, I had to put on lipstick, to help the "lipstick" feel better!

I'm seriously considering not separating anymore. It's a pain trying to figure out what is stuck together after shampooing.

I'm sad the twist butter by Qhemet Biologics is starting to leave residue, now I have to find something else to use.

Today was a great day, while walking around doing errands, the wind kept whipping my hair in my face, lol. I was all like, omg, my locs are all in my face. What a great feeling! AND they are more fuzzy and less 2 strand twisty looking!!!

RIP to my son's locs. He wanted a haircut. I miss them already, and so does he lol. He's already talking about growing them back. I guess we'll see them again one day. =)

So glad I have locks! My life is so much easier. I'm happy to have found a new loctician to do my reties. At least I know how to do it, if push comes to shove, but it takes me 6 hours. Ugh! I don't miss the days when I had 11 hour twisting sessions on my loose hair.

^^^^Agreed!! Although I twist my own but it only takes like 2.5 hours....probably takes less time since I twist and you interlock :-D
My hair is growing so fast! At first it wasn't and then all of a sudden it was! 18 months locked and still my best hair decision

^ Actually I'm just trying to see how long I can go between retightenings. There are no actual benefits for me except no loss of time. What's hard for me is I like to play in my hair and feel up my roots. It's been 5 months since I did any real loc maintenance (the longest I've gone is 7). The way my locs grow I'm pretty sure I could totally freeform with no harm but like I said, I love playing in my hair. I don't pop my locs regularly (read hardly ever) and I do wet them daily.
My hair is thin and my density is low so for me FYI.
ETA: I've been thinking about it and my roots are either loc'ing slower or my hair is growing faster than usual as currently I have 1 1/2 to 2 inches of unlocked roots whereas last year I only ever had 1/2 to 1 inch of unlocked roots. Because my hair is thin and low density I may have to step up my "maintenance schedule" as my roots do seem to be tangling more than usual. Hmmmm......Last edited by KoilyLocGirl; 11-29-2012 at 08:49 PM.

Trying new "products" on my young locks now that I feel that they have mostly locked, squeee!! Recently bought Earthbalisms' lavender lemongrass teapoo, the flower power herb rinse, some pure Jamaican castor oil, and some pure rose water. I will be using all these products for the first time. Im really excited but I also hope all goes well.

My bad for not being more diligent during my re-tis, but now I have all of these funky loose hairs near my roots that make it even easier for my locs to love all up on each other and marry. I just need to do Dewdrop's thread method to incorporate the loose hairs back into the loc core, but I shudder at the thought of doing that for over 200 locs......

I am appreciating my locks now that I live in a colder place. They make great ear warmers.
