The year will be 2013 What are you changing?
I am being laid off so I will change careers.
I am giving up meat (will eat seafood and work on giving that up as well).
I am think about locking so I may be giving up my loose naps (loose inspiration threads keeping me loose).
What are you changing, giving up or modifying in 2013?The worst thing about being lied to is knowing you weren't worth the truth.-Anonymous

I'm looking forward to (at least) a seven day juice fast in '13. I think I picked up my first juicer earlier this month. I want to get a different one for non-leafy produce and practice keeping up my dietary fiber and caloric intake (before I set down into a fast).
I have an eye on adding Spanish lessons into my daily, relocking my hair, and traveling off of the Coast. I haven't been off the East Coast thus far and look forward to staycationing further west.Last edited by Intellexual; 12-21-2012 at 11:41 PM.
If your import amid discussion is to ridicule, sabotage, and/or dismiss, you will no longer receive the privilege of my attention. Passive aggressive behaviors are a defense mechanism of oppressed and ultimately even self-defeated persons. Disregarding and/or ridiculing the concerns of others doesn't legitimize or address your own. You have betrayed a critical trust I must have in you that you are engaging or asking of me to enhance each of our perspectives rather than ridicule mine or reaffirm your own biases. Express your own concerns and/or support your own ideals. Your antics reek of repression and aren't constructive.

Losing weight. I'm giving myself the ENTIRE year to do so. I figure 2lbs a month should get me where I want to be and I won't have to starve. Anything else I accomplish is gravy.

I was going to wait before commenting on any threads this morning because I have a lot of stuff to do and I tend to run on
but as soon as I saw this I was like *gasp* me too me toooo!!
First and foremost I want to spend 2013 getting back in touch with my spiritual self in general. I'm dealing with a lot of anger as well and it's caused me to distance myself from a lot of people I used to call friends. Meditation has been calling me for a long time now.
I quit my job earlier this month (due to many reasons but anger and frustration are 2 big ones). I have a side gig but it won't cover my expenses by itself so 2013 will also be about me getting my hustle on. I had the choice of going into yet another "standard" job or turning my best energies towards finishing my novel and doing freelance work on the side; I've chosen the road less traveled and for once in my life I'm going to try to stick to it despite the risks. In certain ways I still tend to play it safe and doing so just hasn't gotten me where I want to be.
I will be moving out of Iowa in 2013. As of right now I've got a tentative plan in place but I won't discuss it until it's closer to fruition.
Relationship-wise I need to reconnect with my true support network. I'm also done being the token black friend
again there are several emotions at work here which I won't go into...
Health-wise I'm going back to eating mostly-paleo and doing as much exercise (walking, biking, plus yoga and other stuff I can do at home) as possible. I refuse to believe I have to have a damn gym membership to stay in shape.
Finally, because this is the hair forum
I'm shooting to spend at least half, and ideally three-quarters, of 2013 in protective styles.
LBell's 2013 hair motto in a nutshell: The longer my hair gets, the less I do to it. The less I do to it, the longer my hair gets.

healthier eating
more meditation
regular spa/relaxation activities
smarter spending
devoting my energy towards positive, fulfilling friendships and relationships; superficial friendships and relationships drain me, as do complicated ones
basically, working on living more holistically and taking good care of myself

DEFINITELY spend wisely!
Continue on my current health regime and maintain my 12 lb weight loss and perhaps add to that.
NOT experiment with ANY hair products because I KNOW what works and CANNOT afford to have any scalp setbacks.
Build a fairly timeless, high quality wardrobe that I will NOT have to dispose of in a year.Nothing to see here....just growing out a big chop...

I hope to give up being poor, to have a job with nice pay.
Stay consistent with exercise. I already work out, but I go through spells of not doing it at all.
I'm working on my temper; not getting so ticked off and not being so bothered by stuff.
I intend to start paying on my student debt.
I'd also like to start changing how I dress. I've been wearing the same clothing for years; maybe keeping the same clothing is in some way subconsciously keeping me from moving forward in life the way I want.

I've honed in on the introductory ten day Vipassana Meditation course for my next working vacation. The movie I mentioned in the second thread is Dhamma Brothers, The (2008). It's free to watch with limited commercial interruptions on Hulu (title hyperlinked above). I watched it again yesterday on Netflix.

I want to try and get myself on a schedule, and learn how to stick to things. That is my worst quality, and since the world didn't end, I'd like to become a better person. I want to get a job, get back to school, and lose a bunch of weight. I want to become the me that I dream of being, if I'm not being to much of a poetic sap...

Get my house in order. Literally. The clutter and unfinished projects are stifling my spirit.
Be a better mother, wife, sister, friend.
Do more ministry/community service/volunteering.
Publish my first book (I'm halfway there- YAY!) and start writing my second.
Get a side hustle.
Take better care of my hair. I got a professional trim 2 weeks ago, for the first time in almost 2 years, and my hair is still thanking me for it.~Love the hair you have~

This year, im not thinking in terms of what i want to change, per se, but I think ima follow this chick and go after the feelings I want to keep (cause thas ultimately what goals are, achieving something that will give us the feeling we want, i.e. pride, comfort, fulfillment, joy, stillness, etc).
Anywho, the feelings I want to cultivate and achieve this year are:
empowered
alive
bold
unstoppable
prosperous
strong
abundant
divinely feminine
beautiful
nourished
