Just googled the site Latifah offered and checked the ingredients in my dye. Its been about a 1 1/2 months since I dyed my hair. Soft Sheen Carson hi Rez dye has:- Developer contains hydrogen peroxide.
- Colorant contains p-phenylenediamine, resorcinol, ammonia hydroxide.
- Do not use over compound henna or progressive color.
The henna site mentioned that your hair could turn green if your dye has ara-phenylenediamine PPD
The site says mostly all dyes out have some level of PPD in it.
WHAT DO I DO When my starts to grow, color fades or the rusty grays start to come in? How long should I wait before putting a henna in?

I dyed my hair with natural-tint and I henna'd over it. No problems for me. I think you should do a test with a couple of strands of your hair to determine. If youre not looking for color dont add anything acidic in. Sometimes henna will give a light stain anyways but it wont be as vibrant without the acid.
Henna is a conditioning plant, it strengths and nourishes the strands. For me it acts like protein by weighing the hair strands down and appearing to loosen the strands unless I deep condition really well. I alway prepoo first, then deep condition afterwards.
Tonight I'm mixing up my henna with, amla, brahmi , maka, and fenugreek powders. My liquid of choice is Hibiscus flowers boiled in distilled water then cooled, I will be adding in some acid because I want a hue to my hair.

What do you pre poo with? And I thought you were supposed to have clean hair before you henna. I thought about just doing it on my hair without washing and detangling it before because it just seems like it would be an extra step that's not really necessary since I'd be washing my hair after the henna anyways.

I dont care what anyone says about your hair having to be freshly washed in order to have the henna bond to the cuticle better. Its not happening on my head, thats too much darn washing and manipulating my hair.
I prepoo the day before. Either by applying vatika oil, or vatika frosting , or any one of my nice oils I have. I now mix my henna and leave it out maybe an hour or so, put the henna on and steam for 30 minutes. I used to sleep in my henna overnight but not anymore since I received my steamer, then I wash, deep condition, rinse and start to air dry my hair.

The mix was like playdo and it was gritty.
I was afraid to put in on my hair so I just threw it out. None of the mixes I try to do ever turn out right. Now I just wasted about 2-3 ounces of my henna and I have a big bag that I don't know what to do with!

How did this turn out for you? It sounds like you just needed to add a little bit of water and keep mixing to change the consistency. Most of the time I don't add enough of any liquid so I just add a small amounts of warm water while stirring until I get what I want. It's like cooking without a recipe.

Now I wash and detangle the night before. If you're not going to wash you probably as least want to detangle. It will not be fun raking henna through hair that's not detangled.
