    Default Felting?

    Hi Everyone,

I've been on the fence about starting locks for a while. I know I really want them, just haven't made a decision on exactly how I'm going to start them. Please bear with me as I have a rather banal question to ask.

Yesterday I was giving myself a little 5 cent trim, nothing serious. I took the trimmings and got the bright idea to try to felt them in my hands. I'm a knitter and often use this technique to fuse wool yarns together. I wet the hair a little with water/almond oil/peppermint oil mixture and then rubbed the hair rapidly between my palms. In the end I came away with what appeared to be a gorgeous loc. My question is has anyone ever tried to start locs this way? Was it a complete disaster, bad idea, epic fail? Just curious as this has never been talked about as a means to start locs.

Thanks for reading and hope you're all well!
Expecting the world to treat you kindly because you are a good person is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian.

I used to knit and because of that I tried to make a loc using this technique once. I didn't work for me. I don't know why, it works with hair that's not attached to my head, but if it's still on my head it doesn't work.
