Homemade holding spray
1/3 cup warm water, 2 to 3 teaspoons of sugar (depending on how strong of a hold u like), 1 teaspoon honey, [couple drops vanilla extract (optional)]
Shake ingredients together in spray bottle
I am in transitioning phase and i used this recipe to do a curly roller set. My hair turned out beautiful. I hope this helps someone.
It did not make my hair sticky or goopy feeling. Just gave my curls a hold once dried.Last edited by Olahh; 02-17-2010 at 08:34 PM. Reason: update

@ babygurl,who knows the answer
here is my contribution:
~ The recipes I use ~</span>
MY GLYCERIN SPRITZ
1/4 liter camomile tea
1 tsp honey
2 to 3 tsp glycerine
2 to 3 tsp of your favorite vegetable oil
3 to 6 drops essential oil (3 drops rosemary, as a preservative + 3 of your favorite one for smell or just 6 rosemary oil)
put in a spritz and shake well, You can double the proportions of oil & glycerine if you wish, but keep honey low ...
will last 2 weeks
1 tablespoon glycerine
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons conditioner
8 oz. water
OR
1 tsp honey
2 tsp vegetable oil
2 tsp glycerine
8 oz herbal tea
8 drops rosemary essential oil
For the glycerine spray, do you have to refrigerate it?Last edited by tthomas6911; 08-03-2010 at 01:02 AM. Reason: The original was too long.

Crunchy Hair
Hello All,
I have been transitioning for about 5 months now. I did the BC a few months ago. I have tried some of the recommendations listed on this forum, but nothing seems to soften my hair or give it a shine. I used the first couple of receipes by babygurl and I used another one that called for 2 tsp glycerin, 1 tsp of honey, 8 drops of eo ( I used rosemary), 8 oz of herbal tea (I used chammoile) and 2 tsp of EVOO. I got nothing. HELP!!! I need something to soften my hair.

^^^I'm wondering if there is residual p.erm on your ends. This could be some of the reason for the brittleness. Also, what products are you using to cleanse your hair? Finally, I'm wondering what exactly do you mean by 'crunchy'? Are you using any gels that cause it?

Well, I was using CDs Tui Hair oil, hair milk, Khoret Amen Hair Oil, some other hair oil that is supposed to be a duo with the Hair Balm. Next I tried Miss Jessies (did not like that at all), then I tried Bumble and Bumble Curly Creme (I liked that but it is hard to find other than on line. Besides, I want to use natural products.) I have also used Garnier for a hot minute (didn't like that). Now I am on to Kiehl's Creme with Silk Groom. Not really feeling it, but with the cost I am trying to make it work...lol With all of that, I just recently did a egg shampoo with Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap with Eucalyptus. I did a deep condition before that with 3 tsp of honey and 1/4 cup of EVOO. After the shampoo, I did another condition (hair cholesterol) with 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tbsp of EVOO and 3 drops of rosemary eo. I made my own daily conditioner with Aloe Vera 100% gel from "Fruit of the Earth" with African Shea Oil, vegetable glycerin, honey and eo.
Whew...looks like a lot of stuff in my hair......Oh, crunchy means feels dry....definitely not soft.
