    Default Take this NYTimes dialect quize

    There are 25 short questions, at the end it'll tell you where you're probably from based on how you talk. It correctly guess that I'm from New York City.

    I took it a while back and it had me with a mixture of Newark,NJ and Yonkers,NY. I'm surprised it didn't have me as from Brooklyn because that's where my stepmother and my dad talks just like her they lived in Queens before moving upstate. I hope they come out with an international version.

    At least it got me in the southeast. I live in NC, but my family is from Charleston, SC, where most of them speak geechee or have a geechee accent, so I tend to speak some words with a mixture of country and geechee.

    I took this before, but I did better this time. I got Oakland, Glandale and Fresno. Well Fresno I have no idea I mean its in CA but I *never* even go there. Glendale is very near LA where I grew up, and Oakland is where I stay when I'm in the Bay and I have been coming here for over 20 years (I'm here now). I know for fact a lot of NorCal-isms have entered my speech pattern. (I'm guilty of saying 'hella' for example)
