Crashing When Trying to Read Notifications
Howdy. Haven't been around much lately, hope everyone is well :-)
So I'm noticing that when I'm on iPad in Forum Runner, and I click a thread to go over to the full website (so I can like a post, read notifications, etc) it crashes on me. This is new to me, but like I said it's been a while since I've been here and I did recently upgrade to the latest iOS and I don't know if Forum Runner is keeping up, etc.
Ankywhoo just thought I'd let folks know...It's Cheap to be Pank. Come to the Pank Side.

It crashes for me, too. It also happens when I click on any external link.

Re: Crashing When Trying to Read Notifications
I just came across some software on my machine today, that I didn't recognise. It's called "Trusteer Endpoint Protection". On googling, it appears to be some sort of IBM banking software that's loaded to computers by one's bank, my dear. My machine had been crawling for no reason I could see and the browser crashed at the vaguest excuse and sometimes no excuse at all. I seriously came close to just trashing the thing and to hell with my files because it crashed if I did anything more demanding than opening the browser - such as surfing the net! It turns out this is a regular problem with machines that have this so called "security software" loaded.
It's supposed to protect the computer from malware. Just to keep us completely protected, the software collects data from the hard drive.
Let me type that up again...
THE BANKS ARE INSTALLING SOFTWARE THAT SPYS ON YOU, COLLECTING DATA FROM YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER.
I uninstalled it using the Control Panel, but I'm going to run over my hard drive to see if I find anything suspicious lurking in the folders. When I uninstalled it, the damn thing invited me to connect to some IBM website so they could step into my computer through some back door thoughtfully provided by this software, so IBM could uninstall it for me remotely!
So they not only put this spyware on your computer, they want you give them notice and invite them to take what they want from your machine before they kindly uninstall it for you.
My browser hasn't crashed once since I uninstalled it and it's speeded right back up again. It was so dysfunctional that It didn't even seem worth defragging the hard drive, just bounce it to the nearest bin. Blasted government and corporations! We just done get one set of chains off us, to find they have a whole bunch of invisible ones waiting in the wings for all of us. They don't business with race this time around.
Pardon the rant, but I just found this today... I'm still fuming.
Short version, check what software you have on the machine via the "Control Panel". If Trusteer Endpoint Protection is there, uninstall it.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm glad that you found the culprit.
In my case, I'm using my phone & the forum runner app. The program only crashes when I try to access an outside link. I end up have to copy and past the link in a web browser to view it.
