So this should be an interesting thread. Each person provide a name and some contact info(web link, basically) for a professional organization for African-Americans--add in some info about a public resource that they have, if applicable.

Here's the first one. I found this the otherday while I was websurfing(a.k.a. wasting a lot of time).

It's the National Association of African-Americans in Human Resources (http://www.naaahr.org)

Great public resource: Job Listings from AA HR people around the country (http://naaahr.org/career/jobs/index.cfm)

They have job listings on the site as well as links to other African American organizations.

National Association of Black Social Workers (http://www.nabsw.org)

This is the first time in a long time that I've looked at the site because the first site they had wasn't very good. They shouldn't have had a site, bad as it was. But now it looks like it's been made over. I'll have to take a better look at it myself. I know that NABSW is well-known for its stance on AA adoptions.

Black Data Processing Associates (http://www.bdpa.org/home.cfm)

It's a networking organization for people in the Information Technology Community, and offers internships, conferences and career information. They have a Yahoo Group as well, and occasionally members will post jobs into the Yahoo Group's website.

Nice topic :thumbsup

This association is for black journalists. :-cre

National Black Graduate Student Association (http://www.nbgsa.org/)

This is a group I recently found out about. Great for all of the grad students on the board. It would be nice if we could meet up at the national/regional conventions. :-)

Here's a professional organization for AA nurses, practicing and student nurses.

Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc. (http://www.chietaphi.com/)

This is a wonderful organization that focuses on health care for AA and other underserved populations. Also recruits high school students as future nurses, mentors nursing students, and offers professional opportunities and education to the practicing nurse.

I am a member of the local chapter of the National Alliance of Black School Educators, but here is the link to the national site. I know in my local chapter we do a lot of networking and community service for everyone - but especially for African Americans. ANYONE is welcome to join... We have some non-AA members...
