Hello everyone,

I just got sisterlocks about 2 months ago. I am almost out of my starter shampoo. So, I decided to buy dr. bronners hemp lavendar. Do you think this is wise? Does anyone recommend an alternative to the starter shampoo. Or do you think the dr. bronners is ok? Or should I just buy the starter loc shampoo again?
Please help!

I think just as long as the shampoo is clear your good to go. I used T/Gel shampoo when I got my locs installed for the first year.

Dr. Bronners is fine if you like it. There's no magic in the starter shampoo.

Yep I hated the sister locks shampoo, try neutragena anti residue shampoo, works great!

Also, Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo is good. Be sure to rinse really well....if your hair is dark, you may not see it easily, but my hair is naturally blonde and you see EVERYTHING and if I don't rinse well, there is a lot of gunky buildup from shampoo. RINSE RINSE RINSE. I like the Suave and the Neutragena shampoo. I like T-Gel too because it feels so good on my scalp, but for me, the buildup is really bad...maybe because it is a darker shampoo and my hair is light. I'd also suggest diluting whatever shampoo you decide to use in the end.

If you use creamy shampoos then dilute with water in a bottle and spray on your hair. In my early days I used Fantasie IC tea shampoo, only stopped using it cos I like to change things.

I hate the SL shampoo. I use knotty boy shampoo.
