I had expected a novel as forceful as Mitchell's original, but TWDG's weak, diary entry like structure and equally weak prose was horrible
Alice Randall set herself up for failure because she linked her story to the notoriety and familiarity of GWTW, but her writing just doesn't stand up to the original. I think a lot people expected a saga, but Randall delivered a mildly interesting ficitonalized memoir instead.

There was a discussion about this book at the old board--look for it before the old board is removed from service.

I read it and enjoyed it. But it was light reading, not very deep. Wasn't enough to stir up the controversy that it did. I thought it would be far more powerful. Ahh well, I wait for the next sequel to come out. It's not a must read.
