Can you guys give me an idea what the average loctician charges for a wash and retwist for each visit while your hair is locing? I have been seeing a loctician for the past few weeks and I love her work but it is rather expensive...I am considering searching for another loctician but if what my current loctician is charging is the norm then i will bite the bullet and stay where I am...thanks

I opted not to use her, but my proposed loctician was gonna charge $60 for the initial 'do and $15 every 4 weeks for maintenance. I decided to go for it on my own, though.

my 'tician charged 65 for the initial and 35 for maitenance. however, I only went to her to get them started. I maintain my own locs.

$65 for wash/condition and latching. I only go about once every 2 months. Otherwise I just wash and retwist at home.

My original start price was $45 for 2-strand twist and $50 every 4 weeks for maintenance. I figure once I get the hang of doing it myself - I'll maintain them (more than likely after the first 6 months).

the maintenance does not seem complicated.........i decided to start doing my own hair. i noticed a lot of the members here handle their own. i figure if there is a problem i can ask my "tician" or refer to the board! either way i can't go wrong...........

I started with a loctician but the prices aren't relevant cuz I was at home in Barbados at the time but I maintain them myself and its not so hard. It takes a long time initially but I've gotten palm rolling and retwisting down to 1/2 hour to 45 mins max after washing. the only thing I miss is the feeling of being pampered but then I think of all the money I didn't spend and I am quite content!

I am stylistically challenged but I manage to palm roll my locs and they look pretty decent. If you don't want to palm roll, search this site and check out rockinlocs's site to find out about latching and other ways to maintain.
