This was an extremely informative thread. I got so many ideas for leave-ins and oil sheen sprays from this thread that I had to bring this over here for those of us who haven't had the benefit of checking this out...

Enjoy the memories!

Hey NaturalRN (or anyone else that might know--)

Where did you get the rose water from that's in your spray bottle?

In mine I have vegetable glycerin, a little conditioner, H2O, few drops lavender and rosemary essential oil.

Raysrib-

I have the exact same spray as you! It's really good.

People have been talking about how they find it in their local stores like Walmart and Walgreens and the like (those types of stores), but I saw some on www.soapcrafting.com, and they have different amounts, too. I don't know which would be cheaper, though. HTH

Since I'm a product junkie I have more than a couple of spray bottles, but I'll only share two :D

In my first bottle I have rosewater, glycerin, and water- I haven't used this mixture in awhile, but just used it again today and I'm in love with it again :infinity:

In my second bottle I have rosewater, glycerin, water, conditioner (sauve awaphi (sp?)), and I think a little bit of jojoba oil- I haven't used this in awhile too, but right now I'm feeling my first bottle :)

You'll find different concoctions in my spray bottle from one wk to the next but today I have Abba Nourishing leave in, a generous dollop of olive oil(I ran out of glycerin)
water, and a few drops each of jasmine and lavender EO. I re-did my bantu knots by first undoing the knots individually and then spraying generously, combing thru and knotting it back again. It works wonders to detangle, keeps my hair shiny and smells heavenly :D

I may never buy another bottle of glycerin again if this keeps my hair moist 8)

Somebody must've caught a clue...I just came from WalMart looking for spray bottles. All of the $0.50 bottles were CLEARED OUT! The shelves were almost BARE. I was able to get a couple of 6oz bottles and a couple of 1-2oz jars...but that was IT...

Hello all in my spray bottle I have a mix of water(we have softened water which makes a big difference), a swirt of Always leave in conditioner, a swirt of vitamin e oil, and I use that to untangle my hair my oldest d, and oldest s's hair. I have found that if I use that it not only untangles but it leaves their hair more moisterized than if i just apply oil and or water.

See ya

But in the bottle right now is some CD Hair conditioning rinse (it's like a tea. The dry ingredients from CD was placed in boiling water and left to cool) And added to that I have some Khoret Amen Oil, or Tui oil, depends on my mood.
I've also had just straight up water and Tui oil in my spray bottle, smelled really good.

Glycerin and Rosewater, Jojoba oil, some Infusium, and a little Nexxus Humectress.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this already, but I get my glycerin and rosewater already mixed at a Walgreens (drug store) near me. It works really well all by itself, actually, but I decided to get creative, lol. :D

You can see it at www.walgreens.com

In my bottle I have 70% filtered water then i've topped it up with olive oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, vit e oil, glycerine, and tea tree oil.

Now that i've read these posts, i'm thinking of making up another bottle to take into work with me with some conditioner in there.

Walgreens has something called glycerin emollient and another product called glycerin and rosewater (not the lotion). Is this what you all are using, they say they are for chapped skin. My hair is so dry and dull (I'm transitioning, no big chop foreseen). Also, what proportions of products are you using?

I have one spray bottle and it has water, African Pride leave in conditioner, and some Spicy Musk essential oil. I use this to give my hair a nice incense herbal scent. :rainfro: African Pride leave in smells soooo herbal. I add the musk to give it a more earthly smell.

#1. Rosemary essential oil, pure vitamin-e oil and water. This is my scalp spray bottle.

#2. Glycerin and water. This is my hair moisturizing bottle. I just recently created this one and it's just as softening as my store bought moisturizer, so a change in my routine may be on the horizon.

#3. Water. Actually need to buy a new bottle, thanks to my newly discovered concoctions (#1 and #2).

I just made a refresher for my twists using equal parts of:
*Pantene Relaxed & Natural Conditioner - for moisture
*Aloe Vera Gel - for hold
*Water - for moisture and to mix the other two ingredients so they will spray.

I just sprayed my twists with it this morning. I will let you know how I like it.

Oh yeah, the spray bottle I used is an old Pantene Strengthning Complex bottle and it sprays great; better than any of the ones I have bought.

Everyone is saying what they put in their spray bottles, but some are not giving the measurements. Also could someone explain to me how the word "part" is being used. Example 1 part oil, 5 part water etc.........?

I have four spray bottles because I didn't have one that would mist. The first bottle was created when I wore braid and twist extenstions. Its contents:

40% water
40% African Royale Daily Doctor
10% Infusium 23 Hair Vitamin
10% CD Tui Oil

The second and third one (the third is just a smaller bottle of the second's contents) were created for my transition and I still use them since I chopped. They contain:

75% water
25% IC Fantasia Leave-In Conditioner
12 drops Rosemary EO
6 drops Vitamin E Oil
6 drops Jojoba Oil (Only because my supply is low)

I use the larger of the two after washing my hair. I use the smaller third one nightly before putting my satin scarf on and going to bed. The problem is that neither of these bottles will mist. They spray (more like hose the hair down) rather heavily.

I just purchased a fourth bottle that does mist. Right now it only has water in it. I may switch it to use in the mornings, but as I read the raves of glycerin, sage oil and lavender oil, I'm thinking I might add those to the mix.

I meant to mention that I don't use the first spray bottle anymore. I made a conscious decision to wear my own hair, not bought hair for a while. Plus during my transition, Infusium 23 products stopped working for me, so it was pointless to continue. I just gave the stuff away.
