OMG! Thanks so much for the heads up! I put a link Essence on my blog. I believe the image of black women, in hip hop videos especially, has gotten out of control. We are the ones who have to speak up and say enough is enough. Need to stop supporting and making excuses for this crap.

I call BET just about every two weeks already but I'll really start getting on their nerves now, For real though if Bob (Sellout) Johnson can pull MM's videos because of MJ then he could really put his foot down with these rappers-But then again..

You know, I thought my sister and I were the only ones who felt like this.
We watch MTV Base and there are times where we just have to change the channel.
Some of the ladies on the videos need to put some clothes on.
I know if we don't like it we don't have to watch it but thats not the point.

But who is too blame for this in music videos, the director , the record company, the singer/rapper or the people who buy their music ?

You know the video I really hated? The one with Justin Timberlake and Nelly. I can't remember the name of the song.
And I've heard (not seen this one) that Nelly did a video where he swiped a credit card through a ladies behind.

I just find some of them disrespectful.

I had a lot of faith in Nelly until I saw that "Tip Drill" video. That's the azz credit swipe video. Disturbing. Very disturbing.

//But who is too blame for this in music videos, the director , the record company, the singer/rapper or the people who buy their music ?//
or the women who allow themselves to be put in that position?

Everybody.

Awesome ladies! I too was just reading about this in my March issue of Essence. Off to call folks and send some emails :Angry_boese008:

And yes, that Tip Drill video is just plain porn. And you are right sister, everybody from directors, artists, girls naked in videos to people calling BET to request the videos - are all responsible for the mess considered videos. Man, I can remember when the most thing we used to see in videos was a girl in a bikini chillin by the pool. Now, she has on the bikini and lets Nelly swipe a card down her azz :dunno: Take me back to the 80s. MJ had some good videos. Most the videos that were out were tasteful. When did everything go wrong????

yes thanx it brilliant, I am so sick of seeing so much of our beautiful black booty being pimped around like cheap slabs of beef by various money hungry rap artists and music video producers no wonder so many of our young and old black men have little or no respect for black women
how can they ever see us as equals and the mother of their children when we're always looking so stank and tow up!
Black women look so nasty in those roles, I know some people who think its cute but its so disgusting.

If they want to look like that then they are asking to be pregnant & alone, depressed, HIV+/AIDs and the list goes on. Because no man is going to want to stay with you after getting what he wants and unlike true love, good looks dont last forever and their is always going to be temptations out there to tempt a man. So people who think they can keep a man hanging off their booty alone. That is cheating yourself and its pathetic!

Quote: If you want a boy to be a man ..... BE a woman
If are looking for a good man........BE a good woman
Anything else is just complaining!

Count me in. Forget about the Playboy channel! Who needs to buy when you can get 99% naked women for free on BET and MTV. I mean really! I have be careful when my little one gets the remote because I left him on Sesame street, came back, and he was on BET!!! And some woman was shaking it all around. For goodness sake! So the remote stays on the shelf, and the TV stays on Big bird.

It's sad how youth in general is seeing this and being influenced by this.

Who can help me with the quote that says something like you can tell the condition of a country by the treatment of its women I can't fully remember the quote or the source....

I'm sending my email today and I'm also writing a letter.

Thanks for the heads up!
