We just had our Women's Day at church. Our attire was African garb. A church member lent my daughterher wrap pants. After a couple tries, I figured how to wear them. They are the absolute best!!!

Have you seen them or made them? Do you have pictures to share? I plan on making some in a variety of fabric. I will take pictures of the process. They seem very simple to make.

I purchase a pair of the pants from a local african boutique and I love mines, however I am tall and the pants weren't long enough. Besides that I love them. If make a pair put share some pictures. I would love to see them :-P

Are these the loose fitting pants with long slits on the side that you can either tie in the front or back?

I love those pants. The price isn't too bad at Mariposa's. If anyone makes any be sure to post pics.

Thx for the links, afronappy. Those look like the pants I was thinking of. I picked up a few pairs when I visited Thailand a few years ago, and based on those prices, I'm kicking myself for not buying more! :doh

Wow Afronappy, you took the baton and RAAAN FORRREEEESST!!! The Chinese Wrap Pants are the ones I'm talking about. I hope to make some soon and will definitely post. I think a light weight denim would be nice as well as other flowing fabrics. Can't wait to make them.

I liked all of those styles they were super cute! I'm a little confused by the Chinese pants... Do I need to see them in person to understand them?

Please let me know if they are easy to make... do you think they would be hard to do by hand?

I'd like to follow a pattern to make my own pants - $30 is a bit too much when I can make my own.

If anybody knows of a pattern for the wrap pants, could you post it here, please?

Thanks

I plan to make a pair within the next two weeks. I'll take pictures of step-by-step instructions on how to make them and how to put them on. They are amazing and very comfortable.

For an afrocentric look, I'd get an african print fabric and wear black leggins under them.

I bumped this topic in hopes that if anyone has the link to the
Bohemian thread that contained mad counts of different links for clothing ( I couldn't find it using the search engine) they could bump it or post the links here.

TIA!

Let me give you a tip for how to make your own pattern for wrap pants.
Take a pattern for pants that fits you well.
Extend it on the sideseams.
Sew everything the normal way exept for the the sideseams.
Sew a ribbon or double folded piece of fabric to the sideseams at the waist.

My mother made me a pair 10 years ago, it really surprized people at the time.

I wanted to purchase a pair while in Jamaica, but couldn't for this very same reason.

I viewed the ones on ebay, but I'm afraid that they may not be long enough for me.

I would love to make my own.
