Any of you ladies know where I can find a salon that does micro braids (or pinch plaits as we call them) for a reasonable price? The last time I had them i was only charged $70 and they were done very nicely. Unfortunately the stylist that did them moved to S.C. so now I need someone new. Any recommendations?

the lady that does my hair is relatively expensive, but she's really good. She's noted as one of the teachers in the extension and natural business. Her name is CeCe Canaday. Her shop is on the side of her house in Pine Hills (close to MetroWest). You can visit her website, morethanbraids.com, however, i will say that the pictures on the site need to be updated, but she is very good at recommendations for different hair techniques and hair care. Check her out.

To be honest, I don't know if you will find someone like your previous stylist offering micros for the low-low in Orlando, but if you do, good for you!

Good luck

hey hey hey my central floridians :-) i saw the thread and thought i would add my $0.02.

to the poster who gave a shout to cece canaday, a woman in my church referred me to her when i was in search of a loctition. although i ended up putting it in prayer and ultimately felt like God led me to the right place, i have seen her work (locs) and they were nice; and you're right, she was a lil pricey, but we get what we pay for :lol

i can offer up the name of my wonderful loctition and natural hair care specialist. her name is jill, of jill's natural in kissimmee (no i don't live that far out, but her work has me driving there e'ery 4 weeks :app ! she is in the middle of opening up a second location in orlando off pine hills road, imo. she too has a website, and many of her styles are featured there, along with some photos of her and her natural hair (imo is da bomb diggity :offtopic )! www.jillsnatural.com.

also, the grand opening of the african braiding salon's second location sign is posted big as day on pine hills road closest to west colonial drive. they do micros and from what i hear they are decent and fast (more than one professional braider braids your hair at the same time, ultimately getting the job finished twice as fast :huh ). they also have a shop on orange avenue, downtown. not too sure of the price$$, but you have enough info to get you started :thumbsup

hth :tiptoe

O.k. ladies I read the comments from November 2003. I am new to the Orlando area (from Maryland) and would love to know the name of some hair salons that handle locs. I heard of Phil Rich on N. Orange Blossom Trail. I understand he has been in a couple of magazines and his wife is really popular. Has anyone heard of them? I see people with locs everywhere......please tell me more about the salons in Orlando, Florida. :afro:

I am desperate, my locs are past my shoulders and I need help.
