Ladies and Gents,

I have some questioning concerning consolidating my student loans. I have three different loans and the total is about 70, 000. Where do I start looking, if I want to consolidate.

Also, My husband is still in school and his loans are in deferment. Can I/ Should I wait until he's done with school to consolidate, and start making my payments now? I am so confused.

What worked for you?

Songbird33,

thanks for the link. And yes I am a home buyer ( I think :doh ). Well My husband and I closed on our home in April and we are financing it. Does that make me a buyer or an owner?

Unless you are holding the deed, not making anymore mortgage payments, you are a home buyer; the house is not yours at the moment, but the bank's!

what is your residential state?

I can get you in contact with a licensed professional.

The biggest thing is to remember that it is not always wise to consolidate private loans. Find out what they want for an interest rate, because sometimes leaving them seperate keeps you at a better rate.

I consolidated my gov't loans, but left my private loans alone. My credit had gotten a little worse so they wanted to charge me a really high rate.
