Let me just tell yall I rocked my Afro bigger then usual today and I felt so FREE, FINE, BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE and not to mention SEXY. I didn't even know it would be like that! I laughed with the wind as it played with my cotton texture. I walked with my head held high as heads (men/women/relaxed and not) whipped around taking a double take at the FRO. :afro:

Just thought I'd share.

I love rocking my teeny weeny chunky :afro: . My husband loves it too, and as you mentioned, he thinks natural hair is sexy.

I always felt afros, and natural hair in general (even when I was a permie) was beautiful and very regal. It's unique, gets attention, and always stands above the rest...sometimes literally! :P

I know what you mean. When I was a permie I would have "bad hair" days and it would cloud my whole day. Now that seems to be a thing of the past and my confidence has gone through the roof. Even if my fro doesn't look like I think it should I NEVER have the hoe hum bad hair day feeling. I feel beautiful every single day. :afro:

Go Girl! You know my mother in law made me a little angry this weekend when she said my hair would look better if I colored it. I was thinking about coloring it but how could she say that when she is always wearing a awful looking wig. Anyway I rock my fro proud to and and I know it feels good. I did not comb my hair at all this weekend I just wore a hat I did not have time to style it so I hope maybe that was it.

Your fro looks great and I love where you are so soon in your journey! I felt the need the pick my fro every day when I first cut out my chemical fire cream because that was my idea of what was neat and presentable.

@mimosa - I fully agree with pyrefli42 - I have looked at your avatar about 10 times and DIED laughing - so darned twisted man

I agree, I feel even more confident when I rock a fro, primarily because it draws so much attention and its my personal symbol of "I don't give a ___" to the permies who look and me with crooked faces :D Gotta luv the power of the fro. I never felt this confident before I went natural

One thing that freaks me out about my afro is that I can't seem to wear it all by itself. I am hooked with headbands. Not having a hair ornanament in my head seems scary to me.

Am I crazy?

I wonder if me being 30 years old is too old to be wearing headbands. I think that they are little girls at times.

Hathor6 - I wear headbands with my fro sometimes and I'm 32, so no way are you're not too old. My headbands are different colors, but plain. All this fro talk has me inspired. I think I'll wear one soon.

Lil,

All I did was very lightly dampen my hair and brush it out section by section with the Denman brush (D4 I think), My hair was already oiled.

Each section that I combed out I clipped down with these SUPER holding clips (without teeth) that I got from the hair store. They made my hair hair lay smoother at the roots..so my fro was bigger then usual. NO HEAT WAS USED throughout this whole process.

Once I brushed through my entire head and clipped each section I removed the clips, fluffed and shaped my fro with my fingers and the brush.

Thanks guys!

All this talk about fro's, which I just love, love your fro Netta1, makes a sista wanna go and take these twist out.

Here is my vision now. Me struting down the street with my fro and the wind blowing in my hair. Song playing "Staying alive" by BeeGee's. :P

Go Netta, Go Netta, GO! :D

I'm glad you feel confident with your 'fro! I surely feel confident sporting an afro too, especially when it's chunky versus picking it out. :afro:
