Since it's gotten cold outside I have found myself avoiding wearing sweaters because I'm afraid I'm gonna get lint into my locs. Anybody else do this or am I just being overly cautious? :-P

trying to find lint can be a pain in the butt. just try to catch the lint when you can. i love wearing my sweaters. :) i'm not gonna stop wearing them because of locs.

I still wear sweaters, but I try to put a silk scarf in the neck area -- something that matches the sweater of course -- to work as a protectant between my hair and the fuzz of the sweater. You can get very creative with scarves when you know it'll help keep the lint out of your hair.

I don't avoid sweaters at all. As a matter of fact, I just bought some from LB and I plan on going back to get some more. :razz I do avoid turtlenecks and high collar sweaters though. I have plenty of scarves to keep my neck warm. :thumbsup

I still wear sweaters. However, the majority of them do not have high collars.

You could also wear your locs up whenever you wear sweaters that are particulary likely to shed.

Thanks for the great suggestions Ladies. :thumbsup The silk scarf idea sounds really tempting for days when I want to wear my hair down. I will be trying the ponytail option as well.

I still wear sweaters and I own a lot of turtlenecks. I haven't had a problem with my sweaters shedding much.

I wear all kinds of sweaters and never give it a second thought. I do like the idea of silk scarves though.

I love my sweaters, and I catch the lint when I can..
I had a classmate grow locs [few years before I did] and when I saw her, she "Showed" me the Lint balls near the bottom of her locs! She embraces her lint, in her own little way.

I got a baby's brush from Sally's beauty supply to help keep the lint from the sweatshirts I've been wearing out of my locs. Works well.

Um....interesting. So how often do you brush? Several times a day or just when you take the sweatshirt off at the end of the day?

My hair isn't long enough for me to start worrying about it yet but I do make sure a put a silk scarf on my head before pulling a sweater over my head to prevent lint from getting in my locs. I suppose when they do get longer I'll just wear my hair up.

I just brush when I see lint or cat hair in them. Taking the brush and swiping the locs with that is just easier than reaching back & trying to pick at it with my fingernails or tweezers. I inspect my locs in the mornings and before I go to bed & that's when I use the brush (if needed).

I do wear sweaters, and my favorite turtlenecks. My motto is locs mean freedom, so I enjoy just wearing what I like..if I find lint from a sweater..I just pick it out and go.tee..hee..Ahh! the freedom of locs :)

I wear sweaters and I love my turtlenecks. I do stay away from the really fuzzy wuzzy sweaters though.

I still wear turtlenecks, but I avoid sweaters with mohair.

(sigh) I still find myself checking for lint in the back row at least 3 X a week. I live in France, and unfortunately, it's freezing here...so i have to wear turtlenecks and sweaters.

I hadn't thought of the silk scarf thing though. Good idea. I think i'm going to start wearing my hair up though.
