You Know Nappturals, I thought this topic was up once, but I couldn´t find it after doing a search. So if you can please share with us where you store your accessories....I have some boxes, and drawers, but I want to organize my stuff and make it more neat. I have lots of big earrings, necklaces, scarves, hats, and recently I got more earrrings ( I was inspired by Nati to add even more to my collection.. )
So where do you store them? YES! Some storage solutions for those earrings, scarves, hats, necklaces etc....Post pics if you feel free to share.. :)

For my earrings, I store them in a drawer, but I put each pair (or a couple of pairs for the tiny ones) in snack-sized ziploc bags. That way the two don't get separated or broken shuffling around with the others.

For my combos, i.e. earring/necklace, I put them in sandwich-sized ziploc bags.

Before I started wearing larger earrings, I used to use a tool supply box (not a tackle box, but one that had little drawers for screws, bolts, nails, etc). But most of my jewelry has outgrown the little drawers.

Example of storage box (http://www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/eplus/085529000465_3.jpg)

I am so glad someone started this thread! I was just looking at all of my jewelry and I have more jewelry now more than ever! I need a bigger jewelry box or something because I always seem to lose my earrings!

sapphire, that zip lock bag is great idea!

Off to buy mini snack size zip lock bags!

Oh, and my scarves I simply tie several to a hanger and hang in my closet. That way they are closer to my clothing for matching purposes. If there is a scarf that goes with just one special outfit, I tie that scarf around the neck of that outfit's hanger.

Sapphire~solitaire, the storage box is very nice. though it wouldn´t fit most of my earrings  They are too large  The scarves/head wraps I put in a big purple cotton kind of shopper I got as a present. But I´m looking for new places for them. BlackPearls, I have two jewelry boxes of wood, which I have to organize. There´s also a chest of drawers which we store other things and I have two draws for my jewelry. Then some small sisal baskets for some of my Afrikan necklaces. Some small coppper- like vintage boxes for brooches and medium sized earrings. I looked at my stuff and thought they were one big mess. I never throw anything out because I found out there´s always use for them, either to repair or vamp up...Yeah....I´m a collector... A collector who seriously needs to organize.... ^_^

I keep my earrings in a home made earring holder (I wish I had a pic) Bear with me while I try to give you a crude visual and pics from google...lol.

I took a picture frame (3X5, but you can go larger)see here (http://www.craftsolutions.com/projects/CFL/Picture_Frame_of_Stones1.jpg) ,and took out the glass and fake picture that usually comes with those things.

Then I cut out a retangle shaped piece of plastic canvas see here (http://www.dritz.com/askus/faq/images/faq_magnetic_b.jpg) to fit inside the frame.

Then I attach the back of the picture frame so that the plastic canvas is secure. You can decorate the frame however you want...

(This only works for earrings with hooks) Slip in your earrings and now you have a perfect holder! (If you want it to hold studs, dont attach the back of the picture frame just glue the canvas in)

Finished product looks like this (http://www.biondetta.com/bcb/images/earringholder.jpg)

As for my necklaces...I hang them on my dooknob...lol.

I was going to suggest this too. They usually have little drawers where you can store your earrings and braclets, and a little hook to put your necklaces on. The best time to get them is around christmas time when they have them on sale and alot of varieties. Hope this helps. ^_^

Interesting suggestions...Puchi, that too is cool. Thanks for the pics. I had seen someone do that kind of thing in a thread here. I´m not sure who it was. Maybe Superstar. Thats what got me thinking of interesting way to store my stuff...Keep posting ideas or pics..... :P

I saw this idea on a message board and I'm trying to implement it. I have maybe 8-10 different colorful trinket boxes. In each box, I've put earrings that coordinate (loosely) with the color of the boxes. They are displayed on my chest of drawers. So it looks like decorative accessories, but they are also functional. My bracelets are in a basket. I only have a couple of necklaces and my plan is to find a large trinket box where they can lay flat.

Well, I have a couple of small jewelry boxes that I keep "important" stuff in...everything else goes into the same drawer, but in plastic bags as someone else suggested.

However, my grandma has an armoire something like the one below that I'd LOOOOOOOOVE to get as a Christmas or birthday gift:

I was using a large fishing tackle box which is now my craft box. Now I use a cherry finish armoire, given to me by hubby and children for mother's day . They were tired of my boxes sitting everywhere...bhg

I have a wooden chest similar to the pic above. I just bought bedroom furniture and the dresser, chest and night stands come with a hidden drawer on top... This is a pic of the design, sorry I couldnt find anything with the drawer open but the area above the top drawer pulls out to reveal a flat compartment. http://www.eco-furniture.com/im/etienne/etienne_7drawerdresser.jpg

I store my earrings in those round cute gift boxes but I would like them to appear more organized as well..rather than having too rummage through the box, when looking for a particular set..I do have quite a few earrings as well.. :P
MsTee I love those set of drawers!

I wonder where I could find something similar to that?

My scarves I have no problem with..I simply tied them to those skirt/trousers 'hangars', and prop amongst my clothes hanging in my wardrobe.

My budget storage suggestions for jewelry are those mug holders that can be found at any discount store. They are great for holding necklaces & bracelets.

For those that store their earrings in non-compartmental boxes, use a button to keep your earrings paired. Hook the earring thru the hole in the button and use those rubber backs to secure it. So when u r fishing for those earrings, you'll pull the set out instead of wasting time trying to find them separately.

for some reason, my 6th sense kicked in yesterday morning tellin me that someone on the i-net would be askin about how one stores their excessive jewelry like mine.. oh how i love myself

i'll take pix soon to actually show you. but i own over 100 pairs of earrings, 20+ belts and a heap of necklaces.. and i own gaudy stuff, so my ish is heavy and big

i own 2 huge earring holders that i bought from Claire's.. plus 2 earring boxes.
for my necklaces i bought a wooden key/jacket holder (not sure which one), thats where i stack my necklaces. i screwed that into my wall.. then my belts, i got a curtain rod and screwed that all into my wall as well. all courtesy of walmart. so i spent less than $10 on the two.

again, pix soon! ^_^

They have things in the dollar store that look like the larger ones that you stores hoes in, ( I sure can describe things, not)
It has a hanger on it and I use that to store my scarfs in. Each pocket is clear, so you can see which scarf it is. I also use it in the shower for products.
A lady at the flea market had all of her necklaces haning on a plant stand (the one with different arms so that you have several plants on 1 stand)

Wow, you are neat. I love all your storage containers. ^_^ What about the clear one with drawers, where did you get that? I like the open top on it.

I have 3 storage thingies for holding jewelry. One is like a treasure chest for big, hefty necklaces and bracelets. I just throw them in there, and yeah, they do get tangled up. One is a thin, glass jewelry box for thin, silver and gold jewelry. The other is a typical wooden jewelry box with one side for rings. I keep pendants and pins in that one.

I took and old un used pic frame, and I took some fabric that I bought from the fabric store for a headwrap (for dem bad hur days). I stapled the fabric loosely to the cardboad and voola!!!!!!

Thanks kutemommie! I honestly don't recall where I picked up my jewelry organizer but here's one that's similar. The smaller pockets look smaller than my smaller pockets but I'm sure it will work just as well. In fact I'm thinking of getting one from here too. I like the sale price. I also have smaller jewelry organizers, smaller than the one I'm showing a link for, that's holding other items too. I'll try to take a snap shot of them later. I always wanted a jewelry armoire. DH said it was a magnet for a robber :o Of course he has two watch winders sitting in plain view. Explain that one.

I use a hanging jewelry bag and I need another, jewelry boxes in the top drawer (can't have them on display), large plastic storage bins and the trusty "bolted to the ground" safe.

GoldyLocs
09-06-2007, 10:36 AM
Good point about the jewelry armoire or any jewelry box for that matter. Honestly though, a determined professional robber is going to even get into a safe and he/she knows where people who don't have an armoire hide their jewelry.

Inside of my armoire is costume jewelry which too can be and is very expensive.

If the robber can get passed bars, an alarm system, my house canine and our weapons then he/she can have my insured, replaceable jewelry.

EElizabeth, girl, you had me on the floor with that comment because it is so true! My costume jewelry is so darn important to me I'd almost rather someone take the precious jewels if I had to lose anything... I've got some custom made costume jewelry, by a sista, that is irreplaceable. Girl, I've got some earrings in that armoire where I've lost the mate heck 10, 15, 20 years ago... I refuse to throw the other earring away. In my heart I'm singing, "Baby Come Back!" Heeheeheehee. Sick, I know, but "I loves my earrings!"
