Masters of Science in Engineering in Computer Science (really :lol )

My interests are in computer networks and computer security and any and all combinations thereof. :)

No thesis is required for my masters, but I am working on a project this semester for my Advanced Networks class about a network of mail servers that detect and eliminate viruses and worms based on traffic patterns and content.

I am currently in round 2 of grad school.

In 2002, I completed my MA in Clinical Psychology. I wrote my thesis on the affect of cause of single motherhood (divorce vs. choice) on psychosocial outcomes of adolescent girls. It was theoretical as opposed to empirical (wasn't trying to mess with the IRB).

Now I am in my first year of doctoral studies. I am pursuing my PsyD in School Psychology. No research involved (unless you choose to). I am currently doing my practicum in a local school district. I will also start work this week in an early prevention program working in preschools. I'm mulling over a few topics for dissertation, but I still have time before I have to start on that.

Masters of Arts in Human Relations with an emphasis in Sport Administration.

I also graduate in May! Yay for me too!!!

The program that I am in gives both a thesis and non-thesis option. I opted for the thesis option because of this great internship I have here in the university's athletic department and I only have to take tests at the end of the semester...that's much better for me.

I don't know if you all wanted to know all of that, but now you do.

Good luck with your thesis...sounds like it would be very interesting!

Master of Science in Social Work

I'm not researching anything; however, my program has Research as a method of SW practice.

No thesis or dissertation required for my program (only at the Ph.D level), but for my method of practice, Advanced Generalist Practice and Programming (AGPP), all AGPP students have to write a proposal based on the work we've done at our internships this year and based on what we've learned in school in our 2nd year. This proposal determines whether or not one moves on and graduates. Mine is due Thursday. In theory, our proposals are also supposed to be implemented, which they are (for the most part). Oh yeah, and all SW students have to have an internship (a different one each year - 600 hrs./yr. for 2 yrs.), which counts toward SW licensure.

In the future, I'd like to start some trouble in the HIV/AIDS field, get people of color the help and respect they desperately need. Heading an organization (and/or starting my own) is my ultimate goal. I'm down for other causes too.

I'm (FINALLY!) finished in May and I'm ready to be DONE NOW. :smug

Off to a late night of continuing work on this proposal... :smug :smug :tiptoe

I'm in my last semester of master's study in Communication.

Currently writing my thesis--actually right now, i have a deadline for chapter 2's complete outline tomorrow...

My thesis is a rhetorical study of voicelessness and social death in One Hour Photo. I am positing a more elastic notion of voice/lessness to extend beyond voice as a marginalization/minority/gender problem to a human dilemma.

Currently earning my Master's in Gender/Cultural Studies (will be done in January '05).

I am very interested in the oral histories of Black elderly women. I would like to one day publish an anthology of Black elderly women's life stories. I am also interested in working for a counseling/empowerment type of program for young Black girls. If I do decide to continue on for a Ph.D, I'm leaning towards a degree in American/African American Studies or Popular Culture Studies (my undergrad degree was African American Studies).

In the past, I have done oral interviews examining the relationships between Black grandmothers and their granddaughters. For possible thesis ideas, I would either like to examine any commonly held assumptions/values about birth control in Black communities or (and this is more likely) expand my research on the portrayal of Black generational (anything past the traditional 'nuclear') families in American television shows like "Soul Food".

I finish my BA in Information Technology in May, and have a pending application for a joint MBA in Information Technology and International Business

N/A directly - however, my focus will be on Project Management, particularly in the scope of Globalization. My career goal is to enter IS Project Management, or to open my own IS Company (I have a pretty hot business idea related to this in mind, that I'm keeping under my hat :-P )

Any thesis or dissertation plans?
N/A, but if I had to do one, I'd focus on the IT gap as it applies to developing countries & issues related to this. I did a brief paper on this in undergrad, and I'd love to explore this further. :(cha

I am getting an interdisciplinary masters in Africana Studies and Theatre/Performance. I am currently researching the history of my family on my mother's side. I am also exploring the idea of identity among African-Americans through dance, poetry, theatre/performance art and video. I am using the idea of migration and journey as a motif; the physical migration of my grandmother and women like her to the North and how that effects my disconnect with traditional southern African American culture. I am also emphasizing the importance of the oral history tradition among people of African descent by interviewing them about their lives and using these stories as basis for the material in my performance. I'm trying to follow in the footsteps of Zora Neale Hurston...I will be visiting Mississippi this summer, the land where my great great grandparents, great grandparents and grandparents sharecropped. I even managed to get a photo of my great great grandmother. I will be documenting this emotional, physical and spiritual journey through video, interviews, journaling and photography. There is also a chance that I will be going to Ghana this summer to study Ghanaian traditional theatre and dance. If I go, I will definitely be incorporating those elements into my final performance these. BTW, thesis is required and mine will be a performance. :)

*&^%$#..........That is just me gently clearing my throat.........

We've come this far by faith,
Leaning on the Lord.
Trusting in His holy word,
He's never failed us yet.
Oh..oh..oh...can't turn around,
We've come this far by faith!

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
*****Oh what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
*****All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Another level, another harvest,
Another day for You to manifest Your promises;
Another moment, another season for a
Breakthrough, breakthrough.

A greater level, a greater harvest,
A greater day for You to manifest Your promises;
A greater moment, a greater season for a
Breakthrough, breakthrough.

Whisper a prayer in the morning,
Whisper a prayer at noon,
Whisper a prayer in the evening,
Keep your heart in tune.

I am persuaded Lord to love You,
I have been changed to bless Your name.
I am constrained by Your great gospel
Forever to worship You!

I must say that I almost shed a tear reading this post....I just recently graduating (1 week) from UCOnn with a degree in African American studies, I never really felt like I had anyone to talk with about my ideas for research in African American studies nor why I want to pursue degrees in the discipline, but of course I come to nappturality and find my niche, my family..... I was the only graduate from my school in afam, and before me there were only 2, the isolation and lack of convo almost drove me nuts.......but I basically just wanted to say thank you to everyone that responded to this post and added their insight...... :2cents:

p.s. ---- i can see that we all like and hope to research similar topics and I hope to read some published work by all of you

Thanks. Iamme :D :D :) :D :D
