Hey ladies. Im really excited about this whole transitioning process. I've been looking at alot of naturals' fotki. I didn't have the guts to do a Big chop (BC) but i ended up doing one anyway. The last time i had a chemical fire cream was in June and the last time i put a weak chemical fire cream in the front of my hair was Sept. I did the chop on October 12. Would that mean im natural or transitiong? And how do i become natural without chopping some more. Thanks!http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2522/dsc01406cn8.jpg

sound like your transitioning just let it grow out and keep trimming it until all the perm is gone

is you hair blow dried it so then that making it look even straighter you may want to stop and just air dry it make sure you put a moisturizer on it while it is wet

Hello Lady, Welcome to the np board. If you had the last perm in September, even if it was a weak one, I'd say you are still transitioning. It takes time to become completely natural but don't rush. Take your time. It's fine if you don't want to do the big chop. Check out my video for optional styles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyFwR6I-0l0

thank u masoesa for the videos, they are very helpful!

Moejestic, i dont like to air dry my hair because it becomes hard and tangly so i like blow drying when its wet.

^^^^^^ I know some people say that their hair gets hard when it air dries. Mine used to do the same thing. However, that may have more to do with product buildup on your hair, especially if you use/used products with petroleum, mineral oil or silicones (dimethicone, amodimethicone, etc.). Over time, regular blow drying can make your hair brittle and the direct heat may even negatively affect your fabulous new growth. That's why Moe suggested air-drying as a safer alternative.

Why not try a baking soda clarifier before your next shampoo? Stir 1 TBSP baking soda into 2 c warm water and pour the mixture all over your already-wet hair. Massage your scalp for a minute or two, rinse, then shampoo & (deep) condition as normal. Be sure to use a good moisturizer and then air-dry. You might be surprised at the results!

Welcome to Nappturality. I would have to agree with the other members, I would say you is in the transition phase. Just allow your natural hair to grow and do not put any more chemicals in your hair at all. You will love the end results.
