The "what Not To Do" Thread

Don't remain ignorant about your hair.

Going to the salon can be timely and costly; should your stylist become unavailable or you can no longer go, doing your hair could be a task. Look at it, touch it, play with products and see what it likes. Know your hair as well/better as you know the rest of your body. Do your research. This site is absolutely awesome and full of great info.

I'm definitely cosigning this one! So many people applauded me for doing the BC, but were like I wish I had the courage. It's something I never regretted for a second! It was an amazing experience and will definitely teach you to love yourself completely :)

Do not catch the "Hand in Hair Disease" keep your hands out of your hair by protective styling! You'll thank yourself in 6 months! 8))

I sooooo agree with THIS!! I am soooo sick of " soooo... are you gonna loc it??" No. Im not going to loc it!! :(o) I LOVE MY LOOSE KINK!! Why? I just do! And I dont have to justify that to all of my loc'd sista who chose that for themselves, which is beautiful just not for me. Oh.. this is not a rant thread?? Sorry.})

Do not be afraid to (gently!) tell your grandma that not only can you afford to get your hair done, but that you *want* your hair to be nappy! :-)

This one is for my thin /fine strand naturals:

Do not be discouraged because your hair may not come out like other ppl's hair. Embrace what you have and realize that all natural hair is beautiful!

Sure, thick hair is great, but even if your strands are fine, you can still rock awesome styles and look beautiful. It might take more effort but love yourself. Don't obsess about other ppl's hair. lol

This is something I have to train myself to do. ;)
