how can you make parting and styling easier? i want to try corn rowing my own hair but i find it SO difficult to part my hair. any tips? I was thinking maybe i need 2 mirrors but i dont know how that would work. i dont like grab and go hairstyles because they usually have to be small to cover the scalp. they dont have to be 100% perfect but i like nice and crisp parts when it comes to cornrows.

Try parting while it's wet. Makes the hair more malleable. You could also have someone else do the parting for you.

I would recommend using a rattail comb. Just be patient with your hair. It may take a couple of tries but you'll get it.

In addition to using the rattail comb try to ensure that when creating your parts let's say for example from the back row a line ear-to-ear try to make it travel in one motion. Starting and stopping within a line helps to make attempt jagged looking. I hope this makes sense and helps.

I agree with Au Nappturale. Needs to be wet. Also I'd suggest you use accessories to hold hair down (hair ties, clips, etc). Also your first two or three cornrows will never be perfect...redo them when you're done with your entire head.
