Need ideas to share family history at upcoming Reunion Dinner
My family reunion dinner is approaching (late August) and I'd love some ideas about ways to share our family history - we have some of it back to 1860s) during the family dinner. So far this is the plan...
(1) Developing a small booklet with history (doubt that many will read it)
(2) Planning a powerpoint with music (ideas about songs), pictures, and close up of the family tree diagram
(3) Thinking of asking family to add their information on a one-page document to update the tree for next year.
(4) Taking a laptop and scanner to the events this weekend.
Any feedback on items 1-4? Anyone tried this before? Other ideas?
Thanks.

I am the family's historian for all four-sides of my parents heritage as well. Our family has had unions for many yrs 30 plus and we always use this song by the O Jays:
You can display the words by computer or place in the program, we all stand hold hands and sing together along with the music. Also, if you have a family tree website (check out http://tribalpages.com/ it's free) you can display that on your computer.
We always incorporate a theme for each reunion (example. fashion show, poetry, aloha, blast from the past & etc). We have been known to include a segment of "name this person" using photos. You can include a candle light vigil in remembrance of loved ones. Also, we have senior members of the family to tell the family stories.
I hope I have been helpful...have a great reunion!Last edited by NiceNapLady; 07-31-2010 at 04:27 AM.
I am my hair and my hair is me, God gave it to me the way he wanted it to be, so I am here now sporting it, for the rest of the world to see! NiceNapLady
