I actually had a kid (white) ARGUE with his mom over whether or not I was a girl. The mother was trying to explain that women could have short hair, but the kid wasn't buying it. I don't wear earrings and makeup, but I DON'T look like a dude. I also had a lady mistake me for a guy because I was in loose sweats and had my head down as I approached the counter, but once she saw my FACE, she quickly apologized. Kids can be (for lack of a better word) SILLY sometimes, and that's putting it VERY nicely. Don't let it phase you too much.

I don't think it was rude or silly or anything like that, give the kiddo a break. She is new the world still, lol. She was just asking a question. Who knows what her perception was, maybe it had nothing to do with your hair, who knows. The bottomline is you know you look cute and it was unfortunate that she asked in front of a guy you like, so sorry about that,
