Water to retwist only?
Does anyone only use water OR just water and an oil to retwist their roots? How has this been for you?
I think this is the route i will be going, leaning more toward water only.

i only use water to retwist.. i dont retwist very often.. but since day one i have never used a product to twist.. after a wash i apply oil to seal in moisture then if i feel like retwisting i just start retwisting and use a spray bottle of water to rewet hair if needed... works fine, but i have nothing to compare it too since this is how it has always been =)

Ummmmm....like how does it stay locked? Water and oil is very soft, seems like it would come undone. Can you post pics?

Chescaleigh only uses water to retwist. She has a video about it I think. It's the same concept though--twist and let it set. It's the twisting itself that matters, not the product or lack thereof.

I retwist my roots with water only in the back. The front locs have looser, softer roots so I use aloe vera gel up there. (If the front was like the back, my hair life would be perfect.)

I use water only if I don't have my jamaican black castor oil. With my first 2 retwists, I tried Oyin shine & define and it was ok, but I noticed a little flaking down the length of my locs after a few weeks. I had used very little but still...
Anyway, I decided to go product free as an experiment and I haven't looked back since. After a wash, I just apply a little JBCO or coconut oil to my new growth (very little - like a quarter sized amount) and run my hands along the length of my locs. Then I twist and leave them alone.
Products or "hold" is not what causes your locs to loc...Don't sweat it if a few unravel.

I have been doing this for 3 years and I love it and so does my hair. It is not comlicated and I don't have to worry about build up.

well here is a pic the following day after my last retwist... but I am not one to maintain a retwist lol.. 3 days later i started my daily rinsing again... and i wash my hair every week.. so my retwist dont last for that reason alone... But for those 3 days they held just fine, even after a few days of rinsing some of my locs held onto the retwist, i think thats just because my locs a on the smaller side
