Does your hair grow unevenly?
After doing my hair this week, I realized by hair has been growing unevenly. The left side seems to be growing much faster than the right.
I know this because I am transitioning. The left side has a lot more curl + natural texture to it, while the right side has a lot more relaxed ends still there (and I trim every month or two).
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. And what are your growth patterns like? It seems like it is typical for the back of the head to grow faster than the front, but who knows.
Anyone else experiencing lopsided hair growth? lol

I thought I had an Afro mullet; turns out shrinkage was deceiving me.
The right side in the back used to grow longer than the left....but now they're even stevens...Last edited by CoilyHairedBeauty; 05-13-2012 at 11:45 PM.

When I first started out, it looked like a mohawk because my hair only seemed to be growing right down the middle! Then it went mullet style and now it is evening out. I truly think that hair can grow at different rates on the head sometimes.

I thought my hair was growing uneven until I actually measured it and found out that certain areas shrink up more than others.

sure does. but then again my body isn't perfectly symmetrical, lol.
my left side of my hair is a little shorter than the right.
the longest growing part is my crown which is weird because that is the part that has the most issues. the front bang area definitely grows the slowest. and as of this past year seems like the only part of my hair that did grow was my sides.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]just want to say thanks to my angel whoever you are. thanks for making me pretty in pank

My hair grows at the same rate all over. The problem is that there's about a 20-30% difference in shrinkage between the hair on the top and the hair everywhere else. And I don't think I'm the only one this happens to...the fro-mullet is commonly mentioned online.
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

I don't know the science but I doubt every strand of hair grows at the same rate at the same time. Consider all those strands that come out in your comb or brush, they are replaced with new strands that grow up through the scalp. If people lost all their hair in their comb at the same and was replaced at the same time we would have periods of complete baldness.

I'm with Denny. Although the growth differences could be negligible in most, I highly doubt that hair grows evenly. I know mine doesn't....although I must admit having locs makes it obvious to me.

Yep. The top grows faster or seems like it.

Yup and always has since I was a baby. The crown of my head grows like weeds. The left side grows faster than the right. The front and back of my head grows the slowest.
