Washed, detangled, twisted hair....nice! Haven't twisted since July. It only took about 2 hrs to twist my entire head; new record for me. It's not gorgeous but it's neat and I can style these twists if nothing else.

Got my micro twists in a high bun.
High buns are playful, casual, youthful....
Normally I wear the low bun, which makes me look librarianish...
High buns do make my head look big, though...unless I'm wearing big earrings....
Sigh. Too bad my ears are infected...
Darn this metal allergy!!! >.<

Hi. I love long hair. I'm getting up in age so I figure I will wear it long until it makes me look older. It has always been said that a shortie haircut takes off ten years. I will personally test that theory when the time comes. I use to wear short styles when they were really popular as they are again. I do like them shortie styles on me so it will be nice when that time comes. For now I will take all the trouble that goes along with having long locs. I could only do it with locs though. I would not dare to be a loose natural with long strands. Too much committment time for me. Peace and blessings.

I commented on a recent BGLH post addressing detangling long 4c natural hair that in the real world where most naturals live and (gasp) have been living for some time, the TWA and locs are still the only two most sensible heat-free hairstyling options for folks with 4b/4c textures. I also said that when I did my last BC nearly 4 years ago I was all set to keep the TWA for a long time, if not forever.
But then I got bored as I usually do and because I can't stand fake hair I decided to grow it out again but this time I researched ways to have a regimen that consumes as little time as possible. That's why today I'm down to three styles -- curly 'fro, braidout updo, or twists -- and a relatively small number of products for each. Because each style has its own specific steps and care, I tend to wear each one for at least a month. (Not that I go a month without washing the hair; I do wash on schedule but I will keep wearing the same style.) Twists are the most time-intensive in terms of "installing" but the least in terms of daily care. In that way they're kind of like locs but unlike locs I have the option of taking them out and wearing a 'fro if I want.
The KISS and "if it ain't broke" approaches have led to my having hair that's longer than it was when I started locking 10 years ago (this month!). Back then I was really frustrated with the amount of time I was spending on hair and again, this was when it was shorter than it is now. The difference now is that I'm both more knowledgeable but also more realistic: If getting to the finish line the fastest was the goal, I'd probably stay in twists 24/7, but I get bored way too easily and again, I don't wear other people's hair (fake or real). I still prefer versatility with my own hair, even if it means I don't retain as much length.Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

1. Went to Qhemet to order some stuff but everything is out of stock...
2. Naptural85 has amazing hair
3. Leaving my hair alone is becoming easier and easier thanks to a busy schedule, I still have the same braids and it's probably been a month by now since I did them.
4. I still wish to reach BSL but I've calmed down from that tree considerably, I will take whatever I get as far as length retention is concerned.

I think I'll start describing the hair at the crown of my head as type '5' because that's the shape of the coil pattern - a combination of hard angles (half zig-zags) and half curls over the length of the strands.

With the wealth of hair care information available these days, I hope to see an end to the "paintbrush ponytail". I hope to see an end to damaged, broken off hair. That Black women as a whole learn to love and take better care of their hair.
