    Angry hair shrinkage frustration

OK so i have been growing my hair for 8 months now and when its just normally picked out its 1.5 inches in height. when twisted its 2.5 inches and i love how it shows alot more of my growth. and when pulled out with my finger my full hair length is 3.5 in to 4 in. So im trying to figure out a way to make my hair stand tall like when its twisted without actually twisting it because my mom would get very mad if she sees my hair twisted and probably make me cut it and i dont like how my hair has so much shrinkage

For some of us shrinkage is just.the.way.things.are. Without manipulating your hair with twists, braids or bands, your hair will not "stand tall" by itself. I don't know of any way of stretching your hair without the things we don't talk about here on NP (CFC).

Other than big twists/braids after washing and then taking out when dry, I got nothing.

    That's it. That's all I got.

    Good luck.

I was going to suggest a braid-out as well. Would your mom be okay with that?

I don't know how old you are but if you're over 18 you can wear your hair the way you want. It just means you need to stand up to your mom, which is hard (ask me how I know) but part of being an adult is being able to make your own decisions.

Shrinkage is a natural aspect of natural Afro-textured hair. There's really no way around it other than what KLG described.
