    Red face Loc Product Questions

Hi! Ive had dreads for about 3 years now. I started right after my freshman year so they've been with me all through high school. I've been really lazy and haven't done any research into what products to put in my hair. I basically wash and condition and thats it. What shampoos and conditioners are good for healthy locs? What leave-ins or other products are great? I'm going to college this fall so I want to start a new leaf of taking care of my mind, body, and soul!

I love Shea Moisture's African Black Soap shampoo for my hair. My scalp feels so clean afterwards. I also use Palmer's Olive Oil Formula Conditioning Spray Oil to add moisture to my hair. I just started a freeform journey today, so I don't plan to use any products for retwisting or any conditioners. I think it's trial and error, just finding the products that work best for your hair.

I would suggest that whatever shampoo you use, just dilute it (1 cap per 8oz water in a spray bottle). Spray your scalp and work the soap through your locks. Shampoos with slip/conditioners are usually a no/no (residue/detangles). I like Aubreys Rose Petal Shampoo, Shea Moistures African Black Soap and Desert Essence Lemon Tea Tree Shampoo as great options with natural ingredients/ no slip/no bad preservatives. They can all be found at a local store or organic food supply store. This link has alot of discussions on shampoo: https://www.nappturality.com/forums/...n-Do-I-Shampoo and I've seen beautiful locks that were only re-twisted with water cut open after 3-4 years-NO BUILDUP. I think that's a wonderful way to go! I hope you can see this link as a testament that you are on track! http://public.fotki.com/AuNappturale...881838287.html

I started Sisterlocks a little over a year ago. I use my own products. Wash with Herbal Shampoo, Condition every two weeks with Detox Conditioner and for daily use the Scalp Conditioning Spray. It works wonders for me.
