Just saw a natural hair article on CNN.com

I was on Twitter as I often am and saw the Tweet below go by.

That alone isn't strange, what caught my eye was the CNN.com link. I click and, yes, it was an article on CNN's website published on April 28th! I've heard news of articles like this but, usually, there is some negative twist to it.

This seems to be very straightforward. It's for their African Start-Up section: "Following entrepreneurs from all corners of the continent, CNN explores how they generate their ideas, formulate their business plans, raise capital and distribute their products" and the article featured the natural hair style choices of Korkor Kugblenu, founder of the Body Butter Company in Ghana.

The styles as well as the YouTube video featured were tasteful. As it mentioned her and her business too, I see it as progress. I might even try the "three sisters" style they listed. (My hair has stalled which is fine, but I'm bored with the twist/twist-out/messy-fro cycle.)

Am I being naive?

i could take the opportunity to be my sarcastic self and take a jab at CNN but it kinda looks ok, sorta...its CNN i'm sorry i just can't.

i can't take CNN srsly, even with a 'fro on. so here it comes:

"from the ppl that brought you: Cooking up a storm: The rise of African superfoods!"

I was thinking the same thing: "This is CNN; they're just awful! This can't have any value."

I didn't think the superfoods thing was so bad. I might steal a recipe or two. Mmmmmmm, carbs.
