I was back and forth and locs. I decided to go with the faux locs. I did them today in less than 2 hours. They're the bomb!!! They look real. I had folx coming up to me wanting to know my "locticians" name. I like this look but it would take me a good 8-10 years to grow hair this long.

I like that I can take it down in a few weeks and re do it. The pre loc'd hair was only $5/pack.

I'll take pics this weekend and post.

WOW! Under two hours? Everyone that I've read about who went the faux locs route has always said that the process is very time consuming!

Would you mind explaining the method that you used?

Can't wait to see pics! ...

Latching. Braided my own hair down and latched the locs through it. I made the mistake of not cutting them in half first, so I ended up with super long locs, down to my waist. The hubster loved it, but i cut then to shoulder length to make the style more manageable.

Wait ... are you talking about kind of like how they put "crochet curls" in? That is, you cornrow all your natural hair going backwards and then take a latch hook and "hook" the pieces in?

Yes, that's it. I hadn't been down the fake hair isle in a while and was surprised to see the locks. They look great. Usually synthetic hair looks synthetic and is overly shiny, this stuff isn't. I put too much in (3 bags), next time I'll sue 2 and space it better. If you put too much on it starts to mushroom or poof out unnaturally.

It's the bomb though. 2 people at work want theirs done too, cha-ching. I'm gonna charge like it takes all day.

so are you planning on locking or just wearing this as a hairstyle?
the kinks, frizz, and fuzz normally considered flaws in other hair types are characteristic of nappy hair. its texture tends to make it individual, versatile and more richly beautiful than most non-nappy hair types and enhances the beauty of its napptural wearer.

if YOU don't love your hair unconditionally, why should anybody else?
