I remember when I used to press my hair, I would use a combo of vodka and lemon juice to lighten my hair or give it some highlights. It really did work well but gently. It has been about 9 years since I done it and I am thinking of doing it again (except we drank all the vodka :duck )

Has anyone tried on their natural hair?

    Hi Carla,

I used to put fresh squeezed lemon juice on my hair while I sat in the sun. It worked pretty well. Of course, I would follow with a deep conditioner. Hhmmm, now about the vodka, does that speed up the lightening process?

Shay - The vodka is susposed to speed up the process in the sun. The honey works in or out of the sun.

I have been adding honey to my leave-in and noticed that my hair has been getting lighter. It was brown to begin with, but now has really subtle golden highlights, especially in the front. My question is - will this damage or dry out my hair over time?

Does this really work? I need any help on lightening my hair as naturally as possible.

I would really like to get my black hair brown. If anyone on this board has black hair that went brown..let me know? And also let me know how to follow through with the process? I would really appreciate it. And for how long woul dI follow through with it to see the colour change.
Could someone use Rum instead of Vodka?

As far as I understand, lifting the color no matter what you use will open you up to some damage. It depends on how much you lift the color, how strong your hair is, and how well you take care of it.

I think you actually have to use vodka...at least I have never heard any other alcohol used for that before.

can you pm me or post recipe? I'd really be interested to know how this worked.

Further more how many times a week, how much times in the sun is needed. How long before I see a difference? What is the amount per use needed?

Let me know info and recipes?!
