Update: still no combs or brushes. Finger detangled what was supposed to be a 3 day old braid out and rebraided my hair to keep it stretched. Epic laziness is epic. Bun for today and keeping it moving.

Just wanted to pop-in and cheer you ladies on in your challenge! Also, I've noticed that regular use of coconut oil leads to longer and stronger nails - so that may be an unexpected consequence that you can look forward to

I really listen to my hair. When i do braid-outs, I'll spritz, seal with oil/curl milk or shea butter as needed, depends on how my hair is responding. I generally don't rinse my hair until the weekend. When I wear it with that str8 blow out 'look' from stretching, I will detangle nightly with oil only. If I rinsed frequently, I'd be a habitual wet-head..my hair holds ON to water like nobody's business so I try to wait for the weekends to rinse-but spritzing..love it. I use the AVJ of course. What's working for you?

^I kinda do the same as you. But with my working in my yard this week: heat and humidity, I've got to rinse my sweaty scalp at least 2x/week.
AVJ + water + a cheapie conditioner does the trick for detangling. An AVJ and water combo works well as a spritz.

I'm doing this now. I don't comb my hair or use a brush I use to use the denman and I thought I had to detangle but I really don't have tangles as much now that I'm using my clay wash. This is a good challenge I'm looking forward to finish it.

Another major wash/detangling session with no comb/brush use. I've been wearing a bun almost exclusively, and I rinsed my hair twice since the last full detangling, so I was tempted to use my wide-tooth seamless comb to get through the sections that are more tangle-prone - but I fought it, and trusted that pulling apart the sections and running my fingers through them was enough.
I think that consistent spritzing with AVJ/ water mixture, followed by sealing with my oil mixture and light finger detangling several times a week is what will really help me stick to this challenge.

I am definitely in on this challenge. I haven't used a comb in months and I'm loving it! I finger detangle and it works great for me.

Nice fotki pics!! Your "every day look" is very similar to my "most days look". I often pull my hair back with the side swept bangs - I'd say I wear my hair that way about 70% of the time. The only difference is I put mine in a bun a lot of the time. This week, though, I had a bantu-knot out ponytail pulled to the side, so it looked kinda of similar to yours! It looks really good on you!!
