    Default face primers?

Is it best to use a primer before applying makeup??

I've never *really* understood what they were for
    any primer recommendations?

Primers provide a smooth surface so that your makeup won't slide down your face. This is good especially if you have oily skin. My best recommendation is Milk of Magnesia from any pharmacy. Works better than Urban Decay's face primer (which did nothing for me) and its whole lot cheaper.

I use just a dab of MoM on a cotton ball everyday, even when I'm not wearing makeup. It keeps the oil factor to a minimum.

In addition to what caribbelle said, some primers also give a slight sheen to face. This is what I have found to be the case with MAC primer. It gives me a slight glow under my foundation.

Me: MOM! Do you know where I can buy milk of magnesia?
Mom: Milk of Magnesia?? Why do you need to buy that!? o_O
Me: Because I need a primer, and I heard it was good! :-D
Mom: LOL, a primer? ... do you know what Milk of Magnesia is?
    Me:....a......primer?

I didn't know it was a laxative of some sort :>

lmao, so I bought it (today) anyways, and it deff works! I'm so happy the shiny-ness is gone Thanks for the suggestion! I did some more research and read that it's good for getting rid of acne too!

Milk of Magnesia! Man...I've got some in the cabinet right now! I'm glad I saw this. My skin has been acting funny and getting oily. I was trying to figure out what sort of primer to buy. Now I can save my dollars.
