I was searching for Moe's Growth Oil recipe and at the bottom of the list in her fotki was a list of herd and oils that are supposed to be beneficial for hair loss. I decided to dedicate the next year, since I am also on the TWA Grow out Challenge, to trying a new Modified growth oil challenge. Starting December 31, 2008 this will be my routine and products:

RULE of THUMB: Use 3 to 5 drops of Essental oil per 1 teaspoon of Carrier Oil.

    Items Purchased:
    African Shea Butter
    Aloe vera Gel
    Sublimed Sulfur
    16 oz Grapeseed Oil
    .5 oz Chamomole Oil
    .5 oz Sage Oil
    1 oz Horsetail Oil

    My Mix measurements:

I am mixing 5 oz of Carrier (grape seed).
    20 drops x 5 oz = 100 drops total of Essential oils
50 drops Horsetail, 25 drops sage, 25 drops chamomile
    1 teaspoon of Sublimed Sulfur
    1/2 oz Aloe Vera Gel
    2 oz African Shea Butter

Mix together with blender or spoon and store in 2-4oz plastic containers with lids and stored in bathroom medicine cabinet.

    Current Routine:

Daily: Take 1 Biotin 5000 mcg

Co-Wash Daily with Suave Professional's Humectant Conditionerand then apply homemade growth oil. Spritz hair with homemade mix of 7 1/2 oz water and 2-tablespoons of Suave Humectant Conditioner in an 8-oz bottle, reapply shea butter growth oil and then sleep on satin pillow or wear satin bonnet before going to bed.

Saturdays: Wash with Cream of Nature Ultra Moisturizing Kiwi and Citris Shampoo. Followed by deep conditioning with Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol. Leave Conditioner on overnight, rinse out and then Apply Homemade growth oil.

I am not Gonna settle on keeping this thin area and alopecia spot without a fight: If you wanna join this challenge: Put your war clothes on and lets go to battle!!!

sorry TinaW, we are having some bad weather here...a couple of tornatos has come through with more on the way. Congrats on your decision to join in. I figure I can try something for my spot along with prayer because I believe prayer changes things. Also I believe there had to be something in this herbal remedies before there were steroid injections

Keep in touch! I will post pics in my fotki file entitled: The Alopecia Files every month on the last day of the month!

I will join the battle. I'm always up for a challenge especially if it means having a thick and full head of hair.

Come on and fight...doctors want us to believe there is no hope and they insist on pills, creams and injections that may or not help. lets get back to the grassroot days of natural oils and herbs...There is no money in a cure...just money in continued pacifying of symptoms...I believe there are natural remedies for alot and I am willing to try and find one that will work for me!

Post pics and routine regularly: at least monthly if you done want everyone to see then have a locked file!

Girl, you are so right! Doctors don't know everything! I have to get into mixing my own grow oil. I still have one small stubborn spot that will not grow - but I know with perserverence I will see results.

Amen Sisters That's why they call it a Medical PRACTICE ... because they are just practicing. This is what I have learned after I changed Docs and consulted with my beautician. If you are on any kind of High Blood Pressure medication it affects your hair growth. If you have an Iron deficiency or Anemic it affects your hair. Iron keeps oxygen in your blood there for in your hair. Biotin helps hair growth as well.

So I am on an iron supplement but I am eating more foods rich in iron and B12 because it helps the iron to breakdown and distribute. You can buy biotin pills or research foods rich in biotin. Drink lots of water. Keep stress to the minimum.

Remember that how you emotionally feel can affect the physical.

I agree with taking vitamins and I am taking 5000mcg Biotin once a day. I am being faithful and drinking more water as well as eating more fruits and vegetables. I have also began eating at least three means a day with snack in between. I have removed pork completely from my diet and is eating more fish, chicken and turkey. I limit my beef intake to once a week.
