    Thumbs up

Hi, I've got a couple of questions for ya'll......I've noticed a 'band' of buildup in my sons' locs.
I mean a ring-about the width of 1/8". I've tried to remove it when washing the last couple
of washings but they are still there-tho not as bad. I don't know what it could be 'cause I
usu. make a flax seed gel to retwist. There has been an occassion I used a commercial
product but no wax or mineral oil were in them. I tried saturating the loc w/poo to
get it out but that didn't completely do it .

    Any sug. on removing this???

Hey there.. try an ACV (apple cider vinegar) rinse. Its great for getting rid of build up. I did it and it brought lent to the surface and i was able to remove it without harming my locks.
    Maybe that will help.

An ACV or baking soda rinse should help. Also - in the future be sure to dilute his hair products to avoid buildup.

Ok, the baking soda was next on my list to try. As far as products, they are NON-EXISTANT for him. I make a spray but he NEVER spritzes his locs. They get daily moisture from his shower..............I try...............

In addition to using the ACV, use a gentle scrubbing motion (as if you are washing clothes) to help move the dirt.

I second the baking soda. I would give them a good scrub with baking soda and water. You may need to do it a few times to get the buildup out.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you Nappturality, I stumbled upon this site in 2002 and all these years later I still come back to where it began.

Check out these threads. Watercolorz has given some good advice regarding eliminating buildup.
