So, yeah, I know i'm pushing the limit with the amount of challenges and stuff that I start, but man, i just keep getting these ideas, and i've got to share them with my NP sistas!!
i'm still doing low-manipulation as part of my challenge, and for the last leg, i'm thinking that i wanted to go back to doing some buns. i did an entire month of bunning during the summer, and my hair loved it.
however, who wants to do the same old bun every day? so this challenge is for all my creative sistas:
-wear a bun every day for 30 days straight-however, if you really need to let your hair out for something, like a photoshoot or a wedding or something, YOU CAN!
-if you have a fotki, make a new folder for all your buns and update it at least once a week
-try to post as many pics of your buns as you can, with some techniques, if you wish
-you can leave them alone for two days or even a week if you want to really reap the benefits of low-manipulation end protection, but even if you don't, you don't really have to comb/brush every day
-The 30 days would start on Thursday, November 13 and end on December 12, 2008, just in time to let your hair loose for the holidays! i'm giving everyone a few days to gather supplies, decide if they really want to hang , you know get things together...
Are you ready?? Who wants to go through this with me?? i'm so excited!!

p.s. check my math...is that really 30 days? because i've messed up dates and stuff before-it's that senioritis, i tell ya! :P

How on Earth do you wrangle your hair into a bun?? It sounds like a great idea but how could I even manage with my thick hair?! I do want to join though...it is a BIG step up from the constant puff.

Debonaire, i do it one of two ways:
-on soaking wet hair: i'll cowash, and then brush in the shower, which makes it pretty easy to wrangle mine into a bun
-on very stretched out hair, which is pretty easy
i think it's less about length and more so about technique. try it out, and see if that works for you! ^_^

Blah! I'm only doing this because I stalk your albums :ninj: . Alright I'm actually going to get off my butt now and put my hair on flexirods. Then I'm going to come back and bi#ch and moan about how my arms hurt, stalk some other albums with buns, then we will take it from there. And you better be here when I get back .

I would like to try this challenge but I will have to wait for more length (current length is 6in or so). My hair is really thick. But I will keep watching to see how it works for everyone else

 good luck, Debonaire!
and i'm going to see a movie in about a half hour, but i'll be back after that to help!
how on earth do flexirods work out anyways? i think i may have a phobia of anything to do with any kind of rollers-too many harrowing memories of sleepless nights as a presse.d nap baby. inch:
and Nora, i think i'm at about 6 inches, too-if you're interested, check out my album. you're welcome to watch from the sidelines, though!

Hecks yeah I'm up for this
I was planning on doing this anyway for my APL/long term protective style challenges (yeah I belong to 2 others already :P ) I don't have a fotki but I'll try to get some pics together. Dang Raq, now I'm going to have to find a way to jazz up my handy-dandy twist-bun
Oh. I can't start until the 15th and I plan to end around December 18. Is that okay? :unsure:Transition: 10 weeks
BC'd : November 14, 2007
Type: coils, spirals, napps Texture: medium, wiry, coarse Density: normal
Current length: nape- NL unstretched (sometimes lol). almost BSL stretched
Goal: APL twist/braidout/ Waist+ stretched
I promise I'll get a camera. . . someday
My mantra for life:
Do what makes you happy. Love what makes you happy. And follow your gut.

I can't wait to see the pics. op: I'm always looking for bun inspiration. I would join, but I can't imagine all of this hair in a bun (that isn't braided or twisted).

For those of you whose hair is regularly too thick to put into a normal bun (I'm one of these people), you can do a bun like this:
http://public.fotki.com/mwedzi/2008julythr...merbunback.html
Wet or not, my hair can't make the traditional bun, even at this length. Even wet it's like trying to put a wet afro into a bun. So I make a puff first and then fold then ends over and bobby pin. If I tie it down at night, it can last 2 or 3 days.
