:doh Dreamyb you beat me to the punch with that link.

The last time I read my fragrance book most of the recipes used vodka as the first ingredient. I hope you don’t mind the use of alcohol in your fragrances.

Dreamyb I'm from Miami and I vividly remember the smell of baby cologne as a kid.

i'm from miami too (305). ha!

everytime i smell those scents i think of babies

yeah, i don't mind the vodka. i'll probably use an alternative to vodka (maybe witch hazel. it contains alcohol) though since i figure that can be a drying ingredient.

    Dreamyb,
Here are a few of the recipes. :thumbsup Good Luck let us know how it turns out. BTW the book says that you must use vodka.

    Scented Waters with Oils:

To perfume the skin and refresh at the same time, you can use one of the following recipes. These waters are easy to make, and they take the place of toilet waters.

All recipes should age at least 2 weeks before you make a judgement about their fragrance. At the start they may seem too sharp or pungent. They keep well and (like wine) extra aging mellows them and smoothes out the scent. If, after aging, the fragrance is too heavy to suit you, try adding ¼ cup of vodka.

The recipes all call for 1 pint of vodka, but they can be cut in half by reducing all of the ingredients proportionately.

Sunrise Waters (A fresh, clean scent)
    1 pint of 80-proof vodka
    6 droppers oil of lavender
    6 droppers oil of bergamot
    1 dropper tincture of ambergris
-Pour the vodka into a glass jar, leaving a bit of head-room for shaking. Add the oils and shake well, then let stand for 2 weeks to age.

Musky Waters (Sinfully fragrant, Good gift for lovers)
    1 pint of 80-proof vodka
    2 droppers oil of lavender
    10 drops oil of clove
    20 drops tincture of musk
-Pour the vodka into a glass jar, leaving a bit of head-room for shaking. Add the oils and shake well, then let stand for 2 weeks to age.

    Golden Waters (Crispy and bright)
    1 pint of 80-proof vodka
    4 droppers oil of bergamot
    4 droppers oil of orange
    4 droppers oil of lime
    3 droppers oil of lemon
    2 droppers oil of rosemary
-Pour the vodka into a glass jar, leaving a bit of head-room for shaking. Add the oils and shake well, then let stand for 2 weeks to age.

Summer Evening Waters (Evokes an image of a soft, dark evening)
    1 pint of 80-proof vodka
    6 droppers oil of lavender
    4 droppers oil of rosemary
    3 droppers oil of orange
    3 droppers oil of lemon
    2 droppers oil of bergamot
    5 drops oil of clove
-Pour the vodka into a glass jar, leaving a bit of head-room for shaking. Add the oils and shake well, then let stand for 2 weeks to age.
