Exclamation

Today, I was doing a lazy, picked-out afro. As I was smoothing the edges back with gel, I decided to try and pull my hair back into a low-pony puff and what do ya' know? I can do it! And the puff is a pretty good size too!! I'm soooo excited, I guess the winter protective styling is paying off!

What are some of your recent nappy achievements?

Yeah for you I remember how excited I was when my puff was pufflicious lol. My hair actually touches the end of my neck when in twists and I just washed and twisted my hair for the first time in weeks cuz I been rocking head wraps and plaits. So I twisted it up and was like omg it is touching the end of my neck which for me is huge. I have a hard time letting my hair grow I rocked a boy cut for ten years and let my hair grow out starting last august. I am so glad I hung in there and let it grow and now I am seeing the benefits. Girl thank you for this posts and thank you nappaturality for yall support.

I can pull my shrunken twists into a ponytail. I could do this for the back half of my hair, the front doesn't reach. I probably could have done it awhile ago, but I never tried.

I did a full head of two-strand flat twists in < one hour. And even took the time to clean up the parts in my hair. That knitting needle paid off big time.... :P

What is your technique with the knitting needle?

Since you asked... I used it to part my hair. A double-sided needle works way better than a rattail comb, but you gotta get the right size. (6) and length (10").

I can get a nice twist out after a short period of time in twists. I thought I had to leave the twists in for a couple of days. Instead, a couple of hours seems sufficient.

My mother walked past me in the kitchen the other day and pulled my hair back. She then remarked, " Oh my goodness, it's growing! You can put it in a ponytail now." I laughed and said whatever, then tried it later on in the mirror.

MOM MOM MOM MOM, OH MY GOD! I CAN PUT IT INTO A PONYTAIL!!!! I flew upstairs to yell at my Mom. She cracked up and walked away. I felt kinda sheepish, but it's so great.
