Congrats on your BC!
I currently wash my hair about twice a week because I keep it in a bun most of the time. When I first BC'd back in June '07, I used to co-wash everyday. As my hair got longer, my routine had to change. As far as how often you should wash, your mileage may vary. You just have to do what your hair likes.

Congratulations on your BC! I would suggest washing your hair once a week, that’s how often I wash mine. I would try not to go longer than a month if you decide not to wash that often. Hope this helps!

I would give you a set time frame but I'm going to be realistic, as far as my reality goes, and say I have no idea. I wash my hair when I remember to wash. sometimes I go weeks other times I go just a few days. Now I currently have a TWA again, I have been natural for three years now. As my hair gets longer I know that I have to have a schedule set in place or my hair will start acting a fool. I say like everyone else experiment.

Hello and congrats on your BC!!!
I wash my hair every 3-4 weeks. When I BC'd I used to co-wash daily so that I could sport a nice wash 'n go but as my hair got longer I started noticing that I didn't need to wash as much and I'm more into doing protective styling (which currently is just wearing a pony) so I don't like taking my hair down to wash it. You should do whatever your hair likes to do and it does not depend on your texture. HTH

Congrats on the BC! I wash and dc my hair once a week. Like the others said, you're going to have to experiment and see what your hair likes/needs.

And also I Bc'd yesterday after transitioning for 6 months and i can't stop looking at myself. i LOVE it. I'm only 16 too.
so how often do u wash ur hair?
and how often should i wash my hair?
does it depend on your texture? :/
[/b]
First of all if no one else has said it (and I haven't read all the other posts) let me say CONGRATULATIONS ON BC'ING AT 16! I WISH I had the courage to go natural when I was in high school! I wish I even had the mindset to go natural at your age! Ok...back to your question...
I co wash almost daily in the summertime unless my hair is in a style (twists, twistout, etc) but I also shampoo and DC weekly. However I am now using a homemade shampoo and found that its so gentle I can use it more than once per week. I always add a leave in conditioner and moisturizer after my cowash.
My texture is 4.b with a little 4.a. hair in the front and back and its about 5.5-6 inches long.
I use castille soap, water, olive oil, and peppermint oil as my shampoo mixture
I use AO honeysuckle rose or Lustrasilk Cholesterol shea butter plus as my DC
I use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration or Suave Tropical Coconut for my co washes (or sometimes just any ocnditioner that I want to use up)
Shea butter is my moisturizer
and Giovanni Direct Leave in is my leave in conditioner (works better for me in the warmer months)
In the summer I also use a homemade leave in spray (water, glycerin, oil,a nd leave in condish)
Hope this helps! Any more questions PM me or post on here!
Good luck and congrats!

First off, congrats on your BC!!!
I only consider my hair to be washed if shampoo is involved. So I only say once a week. However, I do co wash during the week, but even then, I don't always use conditioner (sometimes I just let my hair get wet under the water).The_Epitome_of_Glamour My Fotki
IMHO, you can never have too much conditioner.

I wash my hair with conditioner (cowash) pretty often, like every other day or sometimes everyday. I wash my hair with diluted moisturizing shampoo about once a week, or whenever my hair feels like it has build up. My texture is 4.a/4.b. HTH!
