Hello fellow Naps,
I have recently decided to start making my own hair products. I am so dedicated to taking good care of my hair. I have tried a lot of commercial products that were good but they would change there ingredients and the updated version wasn't that great at all. Right now as a hair cream I use :
-Raw sea butter
-Jojoba oil
-Rosemary oil
-Almond oil
-Coconut oil
-Vegetable glycerin
I mix all these ingrediants together and I get a great sheen but my hair feels course. I don't have any idea what I add to this mix or substitute from the mix. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated."Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.â€Â-- Marianne Williamson

How much of each oil are you using? You may be using too much. Oil itself doesn't moisturize it just seals in moisture. You may want to add some aloe vera to your mix and reducing the amount of oil.

maybe your hair does not like glycerin. if you live in a dry climate the glycerin will take moisture from your hair and put it in the environment. my hair does not like glycerin. it makes my hair feel crunchy. try taking it out. or remove one ingredient at a time and see what happens.

Are you using a leave-in conditioner under the product?
You could also add honey for moisture.LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS...IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!

I agree w/ at least applying ur cream to damp hair ( or over hair moistened with a water based leave in conditioner like KR suggested). adding oils on dry hair= dry hair W/ oil on it.

I use:
1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 tbs vegetable glycerine
1 tbs coconut oil
10 drops rosemary oil
1 tbs grapse seed oil
1 tbs almond oil
About a small container of sea butter
Maybe I am using too much oil. I thought oil was a moisturizer. I am going to but some aloe vera and reduce some off the oil.

I didn't know glycerin had that reaction to the environment. I'm going to substitute the glycerin for the aloe vera."Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

My hair routine is:
Shampoo
1/4 cup Dr. Bronners Castile soap
1/8 cup vegetable glycerin
1/8 cup extra vergin olive oil
1 cup water
Conditioner
I use a commercial conditioner. I'm trying to create a homemade conditioner.
I don't use a leave in. Honey seems like a great idea. Do I have to mix it with something of do I use it by itself.

I normally put the cream on my hair when it's wet, I'm going to try a leave in treatment.
Thank you ladies for all your great advive. I'm going to take all of your suggestions and keep you posted when I wash my hair next week Tuesday.

Try using castor oil instead of the glycerine. I know my hair doesn't like glycerine but loves castor oil. It softens my hair
