This question has been on my mind for awhile because I noticed when I use to relax my hair my hair grew slower and now that im transitioning and havent had a chemical fire cream in almost 3 months yay (and even when I did stretch my relaxers or whatever) my hair grows faster...
so does natural hair grow faster than relaxed hair?We are just souls on this earth having a human experience

okay, I'm gonna just speak for myself here
Chemicals didn't affect my rate of hair growth...they affected my ability to retain length as my hair grew. My fine strands simply couldn't handle touch-ups with regular CFC every six weeks. Although I didn't experience the kind of drastic breakage that some experience, I had more than enough to keep me from seeing length.
To this day I'm amazed at how utterly ignorant I was about what was going on. However, since going natural and getting away from salons and stylists, I feel I've become HUGELY more educated.Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

From my personal experience, I do believe that by not using a cfc that my hair has been more healthier and has grown much faster.
The length that is is now would have taken about 2 years to get to with a cfc. And it helps that I no longer have to deal with scalp burns.

My hair grows at the same rate. I never had a lot of breakage when I was relaxed and that only came when I got really lazy with my hair so the length retention is the same for me also.

no. hair grows from the follicles in the scalp. that's inside your body, so nothing you put on the outside of your hair is going to affect what happens inside that follicle.

Nope. Hair grows at the same rate with or without chemicals.

I agree with the other ladies. I'm pretty sure my hair is growing at the same rate, I just retain more length.

Relaxers didnt affect my rate of growth because I have always had fairly long hair. But I did notice that my hair was always thin and fragile and there was alot of breakage. Also the heat from styling and the burning of my scalp from the chemical fire cream made my roots very damage and gave the perception that made wasnt growing. But going natural definitely mmade my hair much healthier and alot softer than it was when i had relaxers in.

Re.laxed or natural, my hair seems to grow at the same rate. I have noticed that during different times of year my hair will grow faster or slower. I would have trouble retaining length (as a permie) - that was my problem. I could get to SL quickly, but I could never stay there. I would always find broken off ends all over my shirts.
However, when I was stationed in Panama, my hair grew like a weed and stayed at BSL. Now that I look back on it, it was most likely because I at least rinsed my hair 4 - 5 days a week and always bunned it because I had to meet uniform requirements. And I'm sure that Panama being super, super humid helped.
I can't trip on the hair growth thing right now. I (to me) got a head full of hair. I can do just about any style that I really want, so now all I can do is just enjoy the ride - where ever it takes me.Blog: http://sandycoils.blogspot.com/
